  3. Eating disorder group pulls #chatbot sharing diet advice

A #UnitedStates organization that supports people with eating disorders has suspended use of a chatbot after reports it shared harmful advice.

  4. CW: eating disorder mention - 6/1/2023 statement by US NEDA union

    2/3 (Union statement cont'd)
"...We remain steadfast in our belief that NEDA's attempt to dodge their legal responsibility to bargain in good faith with our union led to their disastrous decision to unleash an untested chatbot onto a vulnerable population. While NEDA executives point fingers in an attempt to evade accountability for this disastrous business decision, one fact remains which will never be silenced or erased: none of this would have happened if NEDA had agreed to provide us with safe, sustainable working conditions. Had those modest requests been met, we would not have unionized, and NEDA would not have hastily replaced a life-saving helpline with an inept chatbot. ..."

  7. January 31, 2009: I didn't eat.
It felt so freeing that I didn't eat for over 3 weeks. My organs were beginning to shut down.
Every February I reflect back on this period and am eternally grateful that I had friends willing to support me through my first step toward recovery.
The last week in February is national eating disorder awareness week. If you or someone you care about is showing signs of having an eating disorder say something. Ask for help.
