Businessman Arrested In Parañaque City For Posing as a Cop and Confronting Police Officers
Recently in the City of Parañaque, a 28-year-old businessman was apprehended for posing as a police officer and confronting local police officers, according to a news report by Tempo.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Tempo news report. Some parts in boldface…
A 28‑year‑old businessman was arrested after posing as a police officer and challenging traffic enforcers to a fistfight following a road rage incident in Parañaque City on Monday night, August 17.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Kim,” was apprehended at around 8:20 p.m. near the corner of Doña Soledad Avenue and France Street in Barangay Don Bosco.
Police said the suspect was initially involved in a road rage incident in which he allegedly chased another motorist while shouting offensive and insulting remarks. He later stopped near five traffic enforcers, claimed to be a police officer, and confronted them.
Authorities reported that the suspect, who allegedly smelled of alcohol, stepped out of his Suzuki Jimny and challenged the enforcers to a fistfight, hurling vulgar remarks despite their attempts to calm him.
The traffic enforcers restrained him until officers from the Don Bosco Police Sub‑Station arrived. The motorist involved in the earlier road rage incident also arrived and identified the suspect.
Verification showed that the suspect failed to present a police identification card, badge, or any official document to support his claim of being a police officer.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a resident of Parañaque, are you concerned that there could be more individuals who pose as authority figures and use fake authority on others? Do you think the city has lots of fraudsters lurking nearby?

Muntinlupa City Mayor Laments Dumping of Trash into Drainage Systems
As personnel of the City Government of Muntinlupa worked hard unclogging the drainage systems, Mayor Ruffy Biazon lamented the dumping of trash into them which resulted in flooding in different parts of the city, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon lamented the dumping of trash into drainage systems, which contributes to flooding in various barangays.
Personnel from the Muntinlupa City government have been unclogging drainage systems in different areas.
Biazon said a tire was found in a drainage ditch on Narra Street in Lakeview, Barangay Putatan.
“Palaisipan talaga sa akin bakit sa aming declogging ng mga drainage sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Muntinlupa, may nakukuhang gulong na nakabara (It’s really a mystery to me why, when we declog drainages in various areas in Muntinlupa, we find tires),” he said.
He added that such obstructions are a major obstacle to the flow of water. The mayor has instructed the city’s Engineering Office to continue declogging operations.
However, he noted that because there are so many drainage systems, the Engineering Office cannot handle them all at once.
The mayor stressed the importance of barangay cooperation to ensure proper drainage flow.
“Hindi makakaila na ang basura ay may kontribusyon sa pagbaha. Kahit regular ang declogging pero patuloy pa rin ang walang pakundangan na pagkalat ng basura, mahihirapan tayong makamit ang efficient na pagdaloy ng ating drainage systems. Lahat tayo may responsibilidad sa pananatili ng kalinisan ng ating lungsod (It cannot be denied that garbage contributes to flooding. Even if declogging is done regularly, if garbage continues to be spread carelessly, it will be difficult for us to achieve efficient flow in our drainage systems. We all have a responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of our city),” he said.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? If you are a resident of Muntinlupa City, who do you think dumps trash into the local drainage systems? Were you trapped by flood during the heavy rain that happened on the weekend ending August 9?

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from The Daily Tribune report. Some parts in boldface…

President Marcos Orders Revival of Las Piñas Spillway
During his on-site inspection in Las Piñas City with the presence of Mayor April Aguilar, Congressman Mark Santos and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., ordered the revival of the Las Piñas Spillway which still remains incomplete for over a decade now, according to a news report by the Manila Standard.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Standard news report. Some parts in boldface…
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to revive and complete a long-delayed spillway in Las Piñas City, saying the project could significantly improve Metro Manila’s ability to drain floodwaters.
President Marcos issued the directive during an inspection of a high-vacuum self-priming drainage trailer pump at Alido Bridge in Barangay Zapote, as he assessed the effects of heavy rains that recently caused flooding in parts of the capital.
He said the Las Piñas spillway had been in the works for more than a decade but was never completed, and should now be revisited as part of the government’s broader flood-control strategy.
“Speaking of spillway, we really need to finish the spillway here in Las Piñas so there will be an outlet for the water, and that plan has been stalled for a long time,” the President told reporters.
Mr. Marcos said he had instructed DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon to review the existing plans, determine whether modifications were needed and move ahead with the project.
“Whatever needs to be done, we have to finish it,” the Chief Executive emphasized.
President Marcos described the spillway as a potentially significant component of flood-control efforts in the National Capital Region. He also credited renewed dredging activities with helping reduce the severity of recent flooding in Las Piñas.
Mr. Marcos said flooding that previously reached chest level was now below the knees in the area he inspected, while water was also receding faster because drainage channels had been cleared.
The President said the government had resumed dredging after a 12-year moratorium, which he said had contributed to rivers and spillways becoming increasingly shallow.
He said dredging would continue without interruption and would be carried out in coordination with local government units.
President Marcos also blamed garbage buildup in drainage channels for worsening flooding, particularly in Parañaque, saying some of the debris had been carried in from other areas and became trapped when high tide coincided with the opening of drainage channels.
He urged local governments and residents to improve waste disposal practices, warning that improperly discarded garbage could obstruct waterways and compound flooding.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Do you think the spillway in the city will somehow get completed during the remaining term of President Marcos? Are you hopeful the DPWH will get the job done?

Safety Measures In Public Schools In Las Piñas City Tightened
Following the tragic death of a student, safety measures in public schools located in Las Piñas City were tightened affecting the students as well as their parents and guardians, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…
Public schools in Las Piñas have strengthened campus safety measures, urging parents and guardians — especially those with children in elementary schools — to provide transparent plastic water bottles or tumblers for their children following the fatal stabbing at Las Piñas National High School.
The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Las Piñas said the enhanced measures aim to safeguard the well-being of all learners across the city’s public schools.
Officials reminded students not to bring sharp objects to school to prevent accidents and encouraged them to immediately report bullying, harassment, or unusual behavior to teachers, guidance counselors, or administrators for prompt intervention.
The reminders were reinforced during an emergency meeting convened by Schools Division Superintendent Melody P. Cruz on Saturday, Aug. 1, with public school principals.
Department of Education National Capital Region (DepEd NCR) Regional Director and concurrent Officer in Charge Assistant Secretary for Operations Jocelyn DR Andaya also attended.
The meeting, called in the wake of the fatal stabbing, focused on strengthening safety protocols, preventive measures, and closer coordination among schools, parents, local government units, and the community.
Andaya stressed the need for collective action to protect learners, saying, “One life taken is a life too many.”
She urged school officials, parents, and stakeholders to work together in maintaining safe, secure, and child friendly learning environments.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Do you think the tightening of security in public schools will make a long-lasting impact?
You may answer in the comments below. If you prefer to answer privately, you may do so by sending me a direct message online.

Rockwell Raises Stake In Alabang With P6.2 Billion Deal
Rockwell Land Corporation – the developer of Rockwell Center in Makati – strengthened its ownership of Alabang Town Center (ATC) by sealing a P6.2 billion deal with the Madrigal family to acquire the remaining stake in the mall operator Alabang Commercial Corp. (ACC), according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin. The ATC will be redeveloped over a number of several years.
For previous developments about Rockwell and its acquisition related to ATC and ACC, click here, here and here.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
Lopez-led Rockwell Land Corp. expanded its ownership of Alabang Town Center (ATC) to near-total control after striking a ₱6.2 billion agreement with the Madrigal family to acquire an additional 22.96 percent stake in the property’s operating entity.
In a disclosure filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, July 30, the property developer said it executed share purchase agreements with the majority of the remaining shareholders of Alabang Commercial Corp. (ACC)
The transaction elevates Rockwell’s total equity interest in ACC from 76.3 percent to 99.26 percent, cementing its operational dominance over the 17.5-hectare prime estate in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
The move allows Rockwell to execute an ambitious and decade-long master plan designed to modernize the suburban retail and lifestyle landmark. Following the acquisition, the company confirmed that preliminary planning is already underway. To lead the redesign, Rockwell has engaged Uruguayan-Canadian architect Carlos Ott—renowned internationally for iconic modern landmarks—alongside local architect Jun Rodriguez of PRSP.
Night-time shot of Alabang Town Center. The immediate priorities over the next two years will center on foundational operational upgrades, specifically focusing on expanding parking capacity, optimizing traffic circulation, and recalibrating the commercial tenant mix to boost retail performance.
Over a five- to 10-year horizon, Rockwell’s broader vision aims to preserve the site’s original suburban character while modernizing the venue into a high-density, experiential lifestyle and retail hub.
The deal reinforces Rockwell’s growth trajectory in 2026, building upon operational milestones across its residential, commercial, and hospitality portfolios.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? If you are a resident of Alabang or if you usually visit the Alabang Town Center every week, what do you feel about Rockwell’s redevelopment plans of the decades-old, high-end property? Have your favorite stores or restaurants at ATC already stopped operating recently? What do you hope to see in the ATC as the redevelopment happens over the next several years? Do you think Rockwell’s presence in Alabang will alter the entire business environment in Muntinlupa City?

Las Piñas City Court Sentences Foreign National To Life Imprisonment Over 71 Kilos Of Shabu
Recently in the City of Las Piñas, a Regional Trial Court (RTC) sentenced a Taiwanese national to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of possessing more than seventy kilos of shabu, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The convict was also ordered to pay a fine of P2 million.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
The Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court sentenced a Taiwanese to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of possessing over P250 million worth of shabu following a search warrant operation, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Tuesday, July 21.
Citing decision from the Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court Branch 255, PDEA said “Chen Te Ho Chang with aliases “Tanda’’ and Te Hi Chen’’ was found guilty of violating Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002″ for possession of 71 kilos of shabu.
Aside from life imprisonment, the court also ordered Chen to pay a P2 million fine.
“The conviction arose from the implementation of a search warrant on June 13, 2017, at a warehouse leased by the accused in BF Martinville Subdivision, Manuyo, Las Piñas City,’’ the PDEA said.
Prior to the warehouse raid, Chen was arrested during an interdiction operation conducted by PDEA and the Philippine National Police (PNP) inside a hotel in Parañaque City on June 3, 2017.
PDEA Director General Isagani R. Nerez said the conviction demonstrates the government’s resolve to ensure that major drug cases culminate in successful prosecution.
“This conviction affirms that our anti-illegal drug campaign extends beyond arrests and seizures. We remain steadfast in building strong cases that will withstand judicial scrutiny and ensure that drug traffickers are convicted and punished to the fullest extent of the law. Justice is best served when those responsible are held fully accountable,’’ Nerez pointed out.
The PDEA chief noted that transnational drug syndicates continue to exploit leased warehouses and storage facilities to conceal large quantities of illegal drugs before distribution.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Do you think there are absolutely no illegal drugs hidden within your local community?
You may answer in the comments below. If you prefer to answer privately, you may do so by sending me a direct message online.

He added that the number of scholars is more than twice the maximum capacity of the Philippine Arena, regarded as the largest indoor arena in the world.
This year, the city government allotted P600 million for scholarships covering learners from Grade 1 to post graduate levels.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? If you are a resident of Muntinlupa City, are you satisfied with the current state of education in the city? Do you approve of the local scholarship program?

NLCOM Assists Over One Thousand Families In General Santos City
New Life Community Care Foundation International, Inc. (NLCOM) – the compassion arm of New Life Philippines located inside Alabang Hills Village in Muntinlupa City – provided assistance and much-needed relief to more than one thousand families in General Santos City who were impacted by the power Mindanao earthquake.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the July 5 social media announcement by NLCOM. Some parts in boldface…
From June 22–25, we had the privilege of serving earthquake-affected communities across General Santos City, Sarangani, T’Boli (South Cotabato), and nearby areas. During those few days, we distributed relief assistance to 1,100 families, installed 17 community water filtration systems, and conducted Psychological First Aid (PFA) to help children, families, and communities.
Every disaster reminds us that the need is always greater than our capacity. While we thank God for every relief bag distributed, every family reached, every community given access to clean water, and every conversation that brought comfort, we also recognize that there are still many who need help, hope, and healing.
Our prayer is not simply to do more, but to be more prepared—to continue equipping ourselves, strengthening partnerships, and responding with excellence whenever communities are faced with crisis. We pray that God will continue to expand our capacity so that more lives can be served, more families can receive practical care, and more hearts can experience His love through the Church.
As we look ahead, we invite you to continue standing with us. Pray for the communities that are still rebuilding, pray for our local church partners, and if God is stirring your heart to be part of future disaster response efforts, we’d love to connect with you.

For the newcomers reading this, I previously blogged about NLCOM back in 2020 which you can read by clicking here and my recent blog posts can viewed by clicking here, here, here, here, here and here. NLCOM has an established record of providing relief to disaster victims and helping them rebuild their lives and communities as they recover.
NLCOM is committed to organizing activities from disaster preparedness trainings, relief goods distribution, mobile kitchen feeding operations, Psychological First Aid to kids and adults traumatized by a disaster, and rebuilding of damaged houses. Foreigner Arrested In Las Piñas City For Assaulting Filipina Partner
Recently in the City of Las Piñas, a male Korean national was apprehended after assaulting his Filipina partner, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
A Korean man was arrested in Las Piñas City on Wednesday, July 2, after allegedly assaulting his Filipina partner during an argument sparked by a video discovered on his mobile phone.
Las Piñas Police chief Col. Fermin Armendarez identified the suspect only as “Sowi,” 39, residing in BF Resort, Barangay Talon Dos.
Armendarez said the 24-year-old victim confronted the suspect after discovering a video on his mobile phone showing him with another woman inside a hotel.
The confrontation escalated into a heated argument, during which the enraged suspect repeatedly slapped the victim.
Police said the victim attempted to flee, but the suspect allegedly chased her and repeatedly struck her on the head with his mobile phone.
Concerned residents who witnessed the incident immediately sought assistance from barangay watchmen who arrested the suspect. He was turned over to the Las Piñas Police Substation 4.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? When was the last time a foreigner assaulted a woman in your local community?

Great Majority Of Las Piñas City Residents Support Dismantling Of C-5 Quirino Flyover To Make Way For LRT-1 Cavite Extension
A survey conducted by the office Las Piñas City Representative Mark Santos revealed more than eighty percent of local residents favor the dismantling of the C-5 Quirino Flyover to make way for the delayed LRT-1 Cavite Extension project, according to a news report by the Manila Standard.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Standard report. Some parts in boldface…
Nearly 82 percent of Las Piñas residents support dismantling the C-5 Quirino Flyover to allow immediate continuation of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project, a survey conducted by the office of Las Piñas Lone District Rep. Mark Anthony Santos showed.
Santos said the survey, which gathered comments from various social media platforms, found that many residents favor immediate construction of Phase 2 of the 3.2-kilometer LRT-1 Cavite Extension, including the Las Piñas and Zapote stations, over retaining the P300.39-million C-5 Quirino Flyover.
Respondents said the LRT-1 Cavite Extension would provide greater public benefit by reducing travel time, easing traffic congestion and delivering more efficient public transportation for commuters from Las Piñas, Parañaque and Cavite.
Many residents said the temporary inconvenience caused by dismantling part of the flyover would be a small sacrifice if it allowed the railway project to move forward and deliver long-term benefits to the public.
They said completing the LRT-1 Cavite Extension matters more than preserving an infrastructure project they consider a major obstacle to the railway’s completion.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Do you favor dismantling the C-5 Quirino Flyover to make way for the completion of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project?

Chinese Fugitives And One Other Arrested In Parañaque City
Recently in the City of Parañaque, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested three Chinese nationals – two fugitives and one overstaying individual – according to the announcement by the authorities.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the BI’s announcement. Some parts in boldface…
In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify the country’s campaign against transnational crime and prevent the Philippines from becoming a haven for foreign fugitives, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested two Chinese nationals wanted in their home country for fraud and illegal gambling operations, and apprehended another Chinese national found to be overstaying during the same enforcement operations.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the fugitives as Jiang Yin, 31, and Li Chuang, 34, who were separately arrested by operatives of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) on the evening of June 16 in Parañaque City.
The operations were conducted in coordination with Chinese authorities that provided intelligence information about their crimes.
During the operation against Li, agents also encountered another Chinese national identified as Wang Weixin, 32, whose immigration records showed that he had overstayed in the Philippines and was the subject of an active Hold Departure Order.
According to the Bureau, both Jiang and Li are wanted by Chinese police for allegedly participating in large-scale fraud and illegally operating online gambling activities through the “Qianneng Wallet” application.
Investigators in China alleged that the application was operated by a syndicate, which recruited Chinese nationals to facilitate illegal online gambling.
Authorities further identified the two fugitives as key members of two illegal gambling syndicates, where they allegedly served as supervisors and markers who extended gambling credit and facilitated betting activities.
Immigration records likewise showed that Jiang entered the Philippines in 2019 as a temporary visitor but failed to maintain a valid immigration status, rendering him an overstaying alien. Meanwhile, verification confirmed that Li was already the subject of existing Bureau blacklist and watchlist orders as an undesirable alien and fugitive from justice.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a resident of Parañaque, are you frustrated with the presence of Chinese criminals in the city? Do you think of crime and Chinese nationals whenever you hear the words Parañaque Renaissance? Do you think there could be thousands more illegal aliens living in Parañaque?

Food Cart Program In Las Piñas City Expanded To Include More Families
Recently in Las Piñas City, the new food cart program was expanded to include more families so they could improve their livelihoods and be able to start small-sized businesses of their own, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…
Fifteen families in Las Piñas City have been given a fresh opportunity to improve their livelihoods after the city government distributed additional food carts under its ongoing assistance program.
Mayor April Aguilar announced that the food carts were awarded to selected beneficiaries to help them start small businesses and generate extra income for their households. This latest batch of recipients adds to the six families who received food carts on May 2.
Some of those earlier beneficiaries have already launched ventures this summer, selling refreshing “samalamig” drinks and popular street food favorites known as “tusok-tusok.”
These affordable snacks not only bring joy to local communities but also provide steady earnings for the families involved.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance, saying the food carts would help them meet their daily needs and give them a chance to build a more stable source of livelihood for their families.
The mayor said the local government remains committed to implementing programs that create jobs and livelihood opportunities for Las Piñeros as part of the city’s continuing efforts to improve the quality of life of its residents.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Are you delighted to see more families getting included in the local food cart program under the City Government?

Rockwell To Redevelop Alabang Town Center
Rockwell Land Corp. confirmed that it has a years-long plan to redevelop the famous Alabang Town Center (ATC) and turn it into a suburban lifestyle center, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…
Rockwell Land Corp., the luxury property development arm of the Lopez Group, plans to redevelop Alabang Town Center (ATC) over the next decade to revitalize the commercial hub and restore what management describes as its original appeal.
Nestor J. Padilla, Rockwell Land chairman and chief executive officer, said the developer envisions transforming the 17.5-hectare property in southern Metro Manila into a suburban lifestyle center over a five- to 10-year period.
“We will bring back the old charm of the town, as the locals like to call ATC. Over the next five to 10 years, our vision is to transform the town to become a suburban lifestyle center,” Padilla said.
The front and drive-way of Alabang Town Center along Madrigal Avenue. To lead the master planning, Rockwell Land has engaged Carlos Ott, the Uruguayan-Canadian architect behind the company’s ultra-luxury Proscenium project in Makati and the designer of the Opéra Bastille in Paris. Ott is collaborating with local firm PRSP Architects, led by Vicente Rodriguez Jr., which has a history of design partnerships with the country’s major builders, including Ayala Land Inc.
Preliminary planning and reviews for the estate began two months ago, Padilla said. The initial phase of the redevelopment over the next two years will focus on upgrading parking facilities and improving vehicular traffic circulation around the complex. Concurrently, Rockwell Land plans to adjust the retail tenancy mix to enhance the shopping experience.
Valerie Soliven, Rockwell Land president and chief operating officer, said the acquisition of the commercial asset marked the expansion of the developer in the southern part of the capital.
“ATC has long held a special place within the Alabang community, and we are approaching its next chapter with both excitement and respect for what it already means to so many people,” Soliven added
Meanwhile, Rockwell Land remains vigilant in its outlook amid geopolitical turmoil and local real estate industry challenges.
“Moving forward, Rockwell is carefully navigating industry headwinds, maintaining a disciplined approach to project delivery and market expansion. The current times are a reminder that resilience and adaptability continue to define not only our industry, but also our company’s journey over our first three decades,” said Padilla.
The company registered a 29 percent jump in earnings last year to ₱5.3 billion while posting an even higher 67 percent rise in net income to ₱1.29 billion in the first quarter of 2026.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? Does Rockwell’s plan to redevelop Alabang Town Center sound good to you? Are you convinced that Rockwell truly cares about the interests of Alabang’s residents? Do you think the redevelopment plan could spark a wave of more commercial developments throughout the city of Muntinlupa?

National Bilibid Prison Development Plan Tackled By Muntinlupa City Councilors
Recently in the progressive city of Muntinlupa, the development plan of the National Bilibid Prison was tackled by the City Council in the form of a public hearing with several stakeholders present, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…
The Muntinlupa City Council held a public hearing to address the impending development of the vast land of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), which is expected to affect residents.
The NBP, located in Barangay Poblacion, is under the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and houses prison facilities.
The NBP Reservation, which refers to the surrounding areas outside the prison facilities, contains houses of BuCor employees, public school teachers, and residents, as well as public schools and churches.
The City Council’s Committee of the Whole, with all councilors present, conducted the public hearing together with presidents of resident associations and informal settlers, representatives from the Commission on Human Rights, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, and BuCor.
Councilor Raul Corro, majority floor leader, said the entire City Council held the hearing “due to the importance of the subject matter: the Bucor proposed master development plan for NBP.”
He explained that the hearing discussed the “concern of informal settlers on their relocation and the legal requirements to be met to have a relocation plan that meets the minimum livable requirements such as availability of basic services like water, power and other amenities.”
Corro emphasized that the city government is entitled to its equitable share in the development of any national wealth such as land under its jurisdiction, and should be informed about the kind of development to be implemented in NBP.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? If you are a resident of Muntinlupa City, what is your opinion about the planned development of the New Bilibid Prison which has a vast land that includes residences, communities, schools and churches already? What is the best place the City Government can find as the target destination of relocation the informal settlers?

Korean Teachers Bring Smiles To Kids In Muntinlupa City
Recently in the progressive city of Muntinlupa, volunteer teachers from Korea were deployed children development centers (CDCs) where they taught lessons and brought smiles to local kids, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…
The Muntinlupa City government welcomed the fourth batch of Korean volunteer teachers who were deployed to childhood development centers (CDCs).
The partnership of the Muntinlupa City government with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) drives the program, which is designed to improve child development in the city.
Under the fourth batch, 16 volunteer teachers were assigned to the Laguerta Bulilit Center in Muntinlupa where they set up a Korean-style classroom model to teach parents and learners about nutrition, physical education, home play and music.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the volunteers are supporting the city’s Early Childhood Education Division.
“They go on duty at our childhood development centers,” he said, adding that the fourth batch includes volunteers who are specialists in child education.
Some had previously volunteered in Muntinlupa and other parts of the country and have returned.
For the volunteer program, the Muntinlupa City government was recognized as an International Local Volunteer Partner Institution Awardee by the PNVSCA.
In December 2023, Muntinlupa was recognized as the first Volunteerism Local Learning Hub in the country.
