Went and saw the open air exhibit called Trolls: a Field Study by danish sustainability artist Thomas Dambo at the NC Arboretum!
Such a cool and inspirational installation to experience while they visit.

Good Friday morning to all, from the #Asheville area! A nice walk/hike at the #NCArboretum is now in the books, and coffee is being gratefully consumed.
It opens at 8 so not an early start, but about 32 to begin and 41 now, so good hiking temps.
I'm a slow-poke, but it's a nice big loop, basically on what look like fire roads, so less uneven terrain. Seeing some more areas of #Helene damage for the first time, but the Arboretum has done so much work and restoration.
Always a nice place to be outside! And for once not a single car was parked at the BRP interface with the MST.

#Wednesday morning walk at the #NCArboretum - this time the gate was unlocked and we got all the way to Lake #Powhatan and back.
It was 50F and not a hint of clouds.

Good #Tuesday morning, #Asheville. A wet time ahead, and until the weekend not all that cold.
Rather wishing our weekend decision to get a ticket to the #NCArboretum event, #WinterLights for tonight had been made with better intel... it's now looking like rain tonight. Ah, well, it won't be too cold.

Another stop at the almost-empty #NCArboretum in #Asheville, for a bit more wandering around. We got to walk a bit further as the paved and gravel roads are now open, but none of the trails.
So many areas where trees came down, and where it will not be nearly so much forest in the spring, as open spaces.
Also, a fairly heartbreaking tag on the wish tree from a child.

#Newsweek published the 10 #BestBotanicalGardens by reader's choice (popularity contest, I assume) but happy to see that the #NCArboretum came in number one!
This is pretty exalted company for a spot in the mountains of Western North Carolina!

Today at the #NCArboretum in #Asheville. A photo of Fred #Olmsted, my mom's memorial bench, a Christmas tree kids could write wishes for, and a bare tree against the long view to the ridges. Pretty day, not too many people.

A morning picnic at the #NCArboretum in #Asheville. Grabbed some morning buns from #CrustNeverSleeps and brought coffee. No one else around first thing, and it wasn't even 60F yet. Glorious.
Then a small trundle around some of the lesser paths/trails and a visit to my mom's memorial bench. Trees not turning yet... #Fall soon, though.

Decided today was #PicnicDay so grabbed a sandwich from a local restaurant and took it to the #NCArboretum. It was nice in the shade, hot in the sun.
Visited my mom's memorial bench which is finally back in its normal spot, so I didn't have to go searching for it.
