Feds failing in bid to take a #supercomputer from a #climate research center
The government ordered the University Consortium for Atmospheric Research (#UCAR), which manages NCAR on behalf of #NSF, to help it prepare to transfer the Wyoming to a different operator. UCAR sued the government and, on Monday, won a preliminary injunction that places the transfer of the facility on hold.
#NCAR won’t be losing its supercomputer.

Near and dear to me, the world leading US climate lab NCAR is set to be dismantled by the American Fascist Party. Given the war against Iran and the generally defunct state of representative democracy, not sure there is much we can do about this now, but remember what they did. According to new allegations reported by a whistleblower to Rep. Neguse’s office, there have been troubling reports that one or more Office of Management and Budget (OMB) officials allegedly proposed or negotiated an arrangement whereby components of NCAR’s space weather program would be transferred to a private, for-profit company.

Does anyone know anyone at the NOAA ARL/who has anything to do with the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data?
It looks like the 1948 and 1949 data have been mislabelled as 2048 and 2049 - noticed when running HYSPLIT trajectory models.
I've sent an email via the general NOAA research office, but not convinced it will get to the right people...
