    From Dare County Government on FB: N.C. Hwy. 12 on Hatteras Island remains CLOSED due to major ocean overwash. NCDOT NC 12 crews are working to clear roadways, but the road will remain closed until travel is safe.
    ⚠️ Mandatory Evacuation for all of Hatteras Island (Zone A) remains in effect.
    ⚠️ Tropical Storm & Storm Surge Warnings are still in place.
    🌊 Double red flags: Entering the ocean anywhere in Dare County is prohibited. Conditions are life-threatening.

    Stay vigilant—the highest water levels are expected with this evening’s high tide around 7 p.m.
