Neuestes Beispiel: Der #Navigator als zentrale Informations- und Buchungsplattform verbleibt bei der #DeutscheBahn Fernverkehr, die so tun muss, als ob sie im "Markt" ein Wettbewerber unter vielen sei. Навигация во Flutter: выносим переходы из экранов

Гайдлайны Apple, Android и Flutter по-разному, но одинаково настойчиво подталкивают задавать переход прямо в коде экрана — в документации go_router это штатный пример. В результате экран отвечает и за интерфейс, и за навигацию: его трудно переиспользовать, он знает про следующие экраны, а модульный тест превращается в интеграционный. В статье — приём, который выносит переход из кода виджета туда, где для решения есть вся информация: экран сообщает о запросе пользователя, а решение принимает роутер вкладки или приложения. Одна и та же задача (две вкладки со своими стеками и общий экран, который в каждой вкладке ведёт себя по-своему) решена трижды: на штатном Navigator, на go_router и на auto_route. Прием подходит и для постепенного рефакторинга существующего кода: внедрять приём целиком не требуется — переходы выносятся из экранов по одному экрану за раз, без смены библиотеки навигации и без изменения остальной части приложения. Код всех трёх реализаций — в репозитории.

My Experience with #ZenBrowser!

It's been a while, since I started using ZenBrowser. I didn't start experimenting with it because of any features, but just the fact that, the new crop of #AI features firefox was introducing were disabled in zen.

I had been a long time #firefox user. Well, originally a #Netscape #Navigator user, moved on to #mozilla #seamonkey and then to firefox. I hardly used #chrome at all.

My disappointment with firefox started with the #AI infusion of late and how horribly complicated it is to disable those features in the firefox settings. That's when I saw some one mentioning about zen stripping off those features in their browser and I wanted to give it a try.

Initially I did had a bit of challenge using zen, owing to the different UI layout and the UI philosophy they use. However over a period, I got a sense of the UI and was able customise it to my choice and move around without much hassles. But I was still using only the barebones of zen.

From a feature perspective the first thing that caught my attention was the #glance feature. I just loved it. I have the habit of searching for some keywords while reading stuff online and most of them are only for a quick reference. Opening them in glance gave me a perfect way to quickly glance at those things and come back to my main content with little interruption. This made me to look at other features in zen.

That's when I started looking for other ZenBrowser features and came across #Spaces. It's probably one of the nicest features out there. Now I have multiple spaces with #tabs open on them, for my news sources, social media, banking and other financial stuff etc. A very neat way to organise ones browser with little clutter.

I also liked the recent addition of #routes in zen, which helps me in opening stuff like news links from my social media links on to the News space than cluttering on the same social media workspace.

I'm sure there are other features that I haven't looked at and explored yet. Please comment if you have a favourite zen feature and I'll take a look at it.

Now, ZenBrowser has become my default and I'm quite happy about using it.

While many of us still had gray towers sitting under our desks in the late 90s, the world of high-end graphics looked completely different. And today, we had a visitor straight from that world:

Netscape Navigator 4.75C-SGI on an SGI IRIX system!

This is absolutely mind-blowing! SGI (Silicon Graphics, Inc.) built workstations that were as expensive as sports cars and as powerful as mainframes. Whether it was "Jurassic Park," "Terminator 2," or the architecture of the Nintendo 64—all of it was developed on SGI machines running the IRIX operating system.

The fact that today, in 2026, someone fires up their SGI Indy, Indigo, or perhaps even a massive Octane workstation, launches the Netscape 4.75C customized exclusively for IRIX, and browses the web on FrogFind simply goes to show: True hardware legends never die.

A reverent greeting to the lucky owner of this UNIX dream machine!

Who remembers the "Gold" edition? Back in 1996, this was the absolute premium standard. Netscape 3.0 Gold didn't just bring improved JavaScript support and LiveAudio; it was the first to feature an integrated WYSIWYG HTML editor ("Netscape Composer"). You could view websites and build them in basically the same window—a dream come true for 90s webmasters!

The fact that this roughly 30-year-old browser is still exploring the web from a classic Mac today and using our search engine is simply wonderful, and exactly the reason FrogFind exists.

Навигация во Flutter — это постоянные компромиссы. Сначала кажется всё просто: push и pop . А потом проект растёт, появляются табы, вложенные модули, диплинки — и выясняется, что каждый следующий экран открывается по‑разному, а pop() в одном месте ведёт себя не так, как в другом. Navigator 1.0 прост и понятен, но при масштабировании рассыпается. Navigator 2.0 даёт полный контроль, но требует столько бойлерплейта, что проще изобрести свой фреймворк. Сообщество это поняло — и появились пакеты поверх Navigator 2.0. go_router упрощает жизнь, но недавно перешёл в режим поддержки: только баг‑фиксы, никаких новых фич. auto_route даёт type‑safety, но тянет за собой кодогенерацию. Мы прошли через все эти варианты в процессе разработки Яндекс Про — приложения для водителей и курьеров, где навигация включает сотни фич, несколько команд, вложенные модули, табы, диплинки и legacy‑код на Navigator 1.0. А ещё — сложную логику переходов, где точный контроль над состоянием навигации не просто желателен, а критичен: экран закрывается там, где не должен, стек оказывается в неожиданном состоянии, и разобраться в причинах через стандартный API почти невозможно. Так появился yx_navigation — новый пакет в нашей экосистеме архитектурных решений для Flutter, после yx_scope (DI) и yx_state (управление состоянием). Дальше расскажу, с какими трудностями мы столкнулись, какие требования сформулировали, как устроен yx_navigation сегодня и как именно он решает проблемы крупных приложений.

Schreibe du mal 4 Tage vor Start an die #Bahn, dass du die 4 Wochen zuvor gebuchte Fahrt auf Grund der Änderung in deinem Tagesablauf nicht wahrnehmen kannst und deshalb deine Reiseplanung anpassen musst... Die DeutscheBahn darf das.

Hold on to your UNIX manuals, because today our FrogFind radar detected an absolute Hollywood star in the frog pond. Between the usual handhelds and Windows PCs, this breathtaking identifier suddenly appeared:

Netscape Navigator 4.75C-SGI on SGI IRIX!

For those who weren't in IT in the 90s: SGI stands for Silicon Graphics Inc. and IRIX was their proprietary UNIX operating system. SGI workstations (like the legendary Indigo2 or O2) were incredibly expensive, highly specialized graphics monsters. It was on exactly these machines that the dinosaurs for Jurassic Park, the liquid Terminator in T2, and even the hardware architecture for the Nintendo 64 were developed!

The fact that these Hollywood heavyweights came with their own specially customized version of the Netscape Navigator (the "C-SGI" at the end) straight from the manufacturer was standard back then. The fact that today, over 25 years later, a retro enthusiast boots up one of these UNIX legends, loads the IRIX OS, and surfs through our frog pond using the original SGI Netscape is retro computing at the absolute highest level.

Hey Retro Fans!

Today, our Frog pond caught a guest whose browser ID looks like a secret message from 2001: Netscape Navigator 4.77C-CCK-MCD on a Mac!

What on earth does that alphabet soup at the end mean? That is pure nostalgia for system administrators!

CCK stands for the Client Customization Kit. This allowed companies, universities, or Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to brand the Netscape Navigator with their own corporate logos, fixed bookmarks, and homepages.

MCD stands for Mission Control Desktop. This was a powerful Netscape tool that allowed admins to centrally control and lock down browser settings for thousands of employees across the corporate network.

The fact that today, 25 years later, someone boots up their old Apple Macintosh (probably running Mac OS 8 or 9) and uses exactly this customized, strictly regulated corporate or provider version to visit FrogFind is an absolute dream. A living fossil of early enterprise IT!

Our radar is glowing, and today we’ve caught a guest in the Frog pond that catapults us straight back to the mid-90s, right into the middle of the great operating system wars: Netscape Navigator 4.61 on IBM OS/2!

For those who don't remember: Before Windows 95 dominated the PC world, IBM and Microsoft worked together on OS/2. After the two giants split, IBM released OS/2 Warp as a direct competitor to Windows. It was technologically superior, ran extremely stably, and had fantastic multitasking—but ultimately lost the marketing battle to Microsoft.

The fact that today, in 2026, someone boots up a real OS/2 machine, launches the native Netscape Navigator 4.61, and uses it to ping FrogFind is retro computing at the absolute highest level. A true digital dinosaur proving that good software never truly dies.

Catch of the Day: Surfing with a Sega Controller! 🌀🎮

Hey Retro Fans!

Just in time for the weekend, our logs have washed up a true console classic. We recorded a visit from Netscape Navigator 3.0 on the Sega Dreamcast!

Back in 1998, the Dreamcast wasn't just graphically ahead of its time; it was also the very first game console to ship out-of-the-box with a built-in modem (and later a broadband adapter). Instead of just gaming, you could pop in a disc like Planetweb or Dream Passport and suddenly surf the internet right on your living room CRT TV!

Under the hood of many of these Dreamcast web discs ran a customized version of the classic Netscape Navigator. Anyone who has ever tried typing a URL using the analog stick of a Dreamcast controller knows the true pain of the early 2000s. The fact that this legendary white console is still finding its way into our Frog pond today is absolute retro magic!

Just in time for the weekend, we are shining our spotlight on a true giant of early web history that immortalized itself in our logs today with 2 clicks: Netscape Navigator 4.04!

We recorded a wonderful visit from a classic Mac system running this iconic browser from 1997. For many of us, that green "N" logo with the animated starry sky (or the ship's wheel) was the very first gateway to the World Wide Web.
Version 4.04 hails straight from the heat of the great browser war against Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Back then, blinking text, wild framesets, and 'Best viewed with Netscape' buttons were the order of the day.

The fact that someone is still firing up this historically significant browser today to search for information in the Frog pond is pure internet romance to us.

@kleines_z Ich kann dein Problem in der App #Navigator nachvollziehen: Dort werden ebenfalls immer „0 Minuten Fußweg nach …“ am Umsteigepunkt angezeigt und auch die Änderung der Gehgeschwindigkeit scheint keine Auswirkung auf die Verbindungen zu haben.

Die zusätzlich angezeigte „Umsteigezeit“ entspricht nur der Diff. zw. Ankunft und Abfahrt an den Umsteigepunkten — wie bei der DB-App. VBB- oder BVG-App zeigen diese gar nicht an. Alle drei erlauben aber die Vorgabe von Mindestdauern.

Was außer ständigen Verspätungen bei der #Bahn noch nervt: Dass der #Navigator nicht checkt, wenn ich großzügige Umsteigezeiten eingeplant habe und die Anschlüsse trotz Verspätung problemlos erreichbar sind, er mir aber anzeigt, dass meine Reise "nicht mehr fahrbar" sein soll.

Wie tief kann sie noch sinken?! Ein Fahrplan reicht nicht aus. Jetzt muss man als Kunde wissen, ob es sich um Echtzeitdaten oder statische Informationen handelt. Ist auf den #Navigator Verlass? Warum ist eine Verspätung auf dem Bahnsteig angekündigt, aber in digitalen Medien noch nicht abrufbar?

Da drängt sich doch wieder die Frage auf: Wer übernimmt für das ständige, jahrzehntelange Versagen der #DeutscheBahn die politische Verantwortung? Und: Was macht Herr Schnieder beruflich?
