Forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, is a science-backed wellness practice that strengthens immunity by increasing natural killer cell activity and reducing stress hormones. The 2010 research shows that spending time in forests improves both physical and mental health, offering long-lasting benefits through natural compounds and deep relaxation in green environments.

"Does being in nature reduce stress by 30%?
Spending time outdoors has been shown to decrease cortisol levels and alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. Exposure to natural light and sounds can have a calming effect on the mind and body.
"As with all things, nature is not a cure, but a treatment, a reminder, and an invitation: to breathe, to be, to heal." - Richard Louv

Strangers (continued)
I then told her about Cates Park
And Lighthouse Park
At opposite ends
Of the North Shore.
Strangers bonding
Over a shared love
Of nature and trees.
Glimmers of light
Adding to our day.💟🌳💟

Strangers
Yesterday I had a lovely
Interaction with
A lady on the bus.
She is visiting from Germany
And was returning from
A day spent in a forest.
We bonded over our
Love of trees.
She asked for
A recommendation
For a place to visit.
I first mentioned Lynn Canyon
And she said that’s
Where she spent the day
And it was wonderful.💟🌳💟

Today I took myself to a forest for some much-needed nature time. There’s a Save-On grocery store nearby so I stopped in.
They have a *huge* health section. The nutritionist came to see if I was finding everything + I mentioned I was happy to see the selection of brands.
I noted one for hot flashes + he was surprised I needed that. He said he thought I was 35 but I told him I’ll be 55 this year.
I love seeing surprised reactions to my age.
