  6. 🦫🌈 Platypus fur just got even more fascinating!

Scientists discovered unusual pigment structures in platypus fur that help the animal stay camouflaged and possibly even regulate temperature in cold water. These unique nanostructures give the iconic Australian monotreme its distinctive brownish hue while offering surprising evolutionary advantages.

  9. Plants are amazing! "Plants may lack our facial features, but the fact that they don’t have eyes, ears, or noses has not stopped them from developing ways to see, hear, and smell potential threats around them. While plants’ sensory processes are complex and mysterious, a new study mapping out protein interactions has given researchers new insights."

  14. Researchers have found that trees across vast distances sync their fruiting cycles to the sun's rhythms, known as masting. This coordination, influenced by sunlight and climate, maximizes reproductive success while baffling predators. Understanding this could reveal how ecosystems adapt to environmental changes on a continental scale. #Ecology #Trees #NatureScience

  15. So... #botany peeps? #communication nerds? #Bee beloveds?

I heard a thing - on a YT video re: attempts to understand non-human communication..... about how certain plants, in laboratory settings, created sweeter nectar upon being exposed to the sound of an approaching bee. which of course encourages the bee to other flowers of that type.

This might be the coolest #natureScience fact i've run across in a good while!!!! I'll follow up with the scientist name when I get a moment.
