  7. “The richness of Donnchadh Bàn’s language becomes a metaphor for the richness of nature... The poem is a song & the music itself becomes a metaphor for the co-existence of different forms of life”

  14. 📜 This Day in History – September 24, 1906

Teddy Roosevelt designated Devils Tower as the first U.S. National Monument.
A big rock. A bold move. A love letter to the wild.

    You made Trudeau proud, Teddy—
with your jaw set firm, your laugh so heady.
But most of all, you made us see
the wild was worth its sanctity.

The first of many marks you made—
a monument to what won’t fade.

  16. New quick poem:

    Garden Warfare

    My neighbour gardens
    like they are at war.
    The power tools their artillery
    the weedkiller their chemical agent.
    Nature must be subdued
    all wildness controlled.
I want the Earth to shout
    what I can't
    to fight back.
    But it keeps the peace
    like I.
    It can only quietly
    resist
    by killing their brambles.
    I can only hope
    my organic words
    take root
    instead.

  28. The Yellowing starts all over again,
    like the Earth singing out in sweetest refrain;
joyous that death is again overcome,
by the cycle of life that makes us all one.
Compression in darkness is finally done
and - at least for this year - once again, light has won.
