I just was outside. Shortly. Deadly silence. No birds, no sounds from my neighbour's different farm animals, no crickets. No cars, no happy children's noises. Even the tropics-adoring neighbours are inside.

During the lockdowns, everything in nature was sound. During the heatwave, everything is smell. The smell of carcasses ... creeping into the open windows at night.

  2. Two different footpath trails - leading out from the native plant garden. The rock steps trail leads to the short boardwalk that connects to a dock, over the lake, that has seating. The gravel path leads you to the lake loop trail, across the wetlands/marshes (prime frogs/turtles spotting area), over a long boardwalk that connects one side of the lake to the other. *In really rainy times - the trails on other side of lake get flooded out.

  3. 1/2 In our #museum, visitors are often surprised when I show them our housemates, err, #garden mates. 😁
These #firebugs are also visitors, enjoying some warm stones. Normally, they live on the lime trees at the church beside the museum.
Firebugs feed on fallen lime seeds (and seeds of some other plants) and dead insects. They are no pest.
They communicate and gather with the help of #pheromones. Loving heat, they can

  4. One of the most beautiful times in our #naturepark with lush green and all the bushes and trees #blooming. Copper beeches, an old cherry tree and budding birches. #oldgrowth #trees #bloomscrolling #spring.

  5. This day exploded with snowdrops, bees, insects, and the first Red Admirable butterfly (Vanessa atalanta). Since my early childhood, it's my ritual to fill the first seen #flowers after winter into this vase. The snowdrops in our village date from the 1920s. A wonderful scent, the bees are powdered with pollen! If it's too cold, snowdrops are self-pollinators.

  6. Sometimes it’s nice to stop and just enjoy the view for a little while.
