Can some #nativespeaker please explain us who are "32-bit gigachad" and "64-bit terachad"? 😅😅😅😅 -
Schlaue #Nativespeaker hier?
Ich steh' auf dem Schlauch.

When you are #nativeSpeaker in different languages, you become different persons in different languages.

#followerpower #nativespeaker -
Is it
a) "No #backup, no #sympathy"
or
b) "No backup, no #pity"?a) returns about twice as many search results. I'm not a #NativeSpeaker, so I'd like to hear from those who are.

There seems to be a well-intentioned push to get rid of the notion of the #nativespeaker in #linguistics from some quarters, which in some contexts probably makes sense.
But as long as the criticial period is still a thing, it's not going to work for many linguistic thing that closely touch on the neuro-cognitive or linguistic competence, such as syntactic acceptability judgments etc.

"...native speaker would not be a proper category for linguistics precisely because it is more political than scientifically accurate. Politicizing the term would then be a way of lessening its scientific relevance by emphasizing its ideological dimension: native speaker would primarily be an ideology of the nation-state."
