🦋 POLLINATOR WEEK 🐝

Saw a new native bee species in my garden today. Must have visited for Pollinator Week.

Only had a backlit view unfortunately, but it looks like a "small carpenter bee" (Genus Ceratina) which nest in pithy stems. I'll make sure I have plenty of pithy stems nearby, so it does not have to haul all that pollen too far.

Check out that yellow spot on its butt. 💚

We want to help in any way we can because pollinators are up against many threats. And we need them. More:

The Eastern Snail Shell Mason Bee (Osmia conjuncta) is a small North American blue bee which makes nests in suitable empty snail shells!
