  16. If you are interested in Edward Curtis (and I wasn't until I read the book), I recommend Short Nights of the Shadowcatcher by Timothy Egan. Curtis appears to be one of the less problematic ethnographers of the 20th century, although I am happy to be corrected on that by those who know more.
