Fyi, I get most of my news from Al Jazeera English and citizen reporting on social media; I’m in Jakarta, Indonesia, btw. Major news outlets are either actively censored or paid to fragment the people and launder state violence and negligence. Indonesia 🤝 Iran (campists, don’t interact; y’all are sickening).

Indonesians are stuck between a rock and hell. There’s an ongoing joke here (to cope) that says we’re collectively going to enter paradise via the Indonesian citizen entryway (jalur WNI), because the longest fitna (trial) is being an Indonesian citizen IRL.

I’m sorry if I sound unserious. This is the register of many people in Indonesia right now. We’re not trivialising what’s happening. We’re all aware of the risks of speaking up, we’re angry, we’re condemning the government, many of us are taking to the streets, and we’re just doing what we can within our capacity, alongside our prayers to God and maybe other beings…Indonesia was never secular to begin with anyway.

Di atas langit masih ada langit. Di atas Prabowo, ada Netanyahu. Jk, jk. There’s nobody above us but God.

Also, save the date: 27 Aug 2026. Prophet Isa عليه السلام will descend in Damascus, insha’Allah. If God wills it. If not, then there will be nationwide protests against the government in Indonesia…insha’Allah.

In all seriousness, on 27 August 2026, there will be nationwide protests. I will find English-language sources for y’all. Otherwise, I may have to translate them myself again, just like I did last year; I reshared and translated citizens’ live reporting last year on Threads for archival purposes...
