We ended #NationalTreeWeek yesterday with live music by Jol Rose and Rachael Birkin, and visitors decorated leaves to hang on our mulberry tree.
We run this free #familyfriendly event on the first Sunday in December to mark the end of National Tree Week--an annual celebration to mark the start of the #winter tree planting season.

Back in March of this year, one of our volunteers was lucky enough to be able to enter the usually-locked grounds of Holy Rood Church as council workers were undertaking some repairs (yay to lucky timing, boo to vandalism), and took this shot of the Jefferies family memorial, shaded by a tree.

Here are a few shots from Tree Days past - our main activity is making leaves to hang on our trees (thank goodness the mulberry is still standing), with live music playing all the while.
This Sunday, we have Rachael Birkin and Jol Rose entertaining us in the parlour. You can keep warm and refuel with cakes and hot drinks from our cafe. It's a peaceful and uplifting way to spend some time on a Sunday afternoon. We'll be open 1-3pm.

Massy’s Wood, is a broad leaved woodland. It has beech, birch, oak, sycamore, Spanish chestnut & ash. Mature trees include Irish Sessile Oak, Giant Sequoia, Irish Yew, Himalayan Spruce and Monterey Pine.

I couldn’t finish #NationalTreeWeek without reference to the festive season,so here’s our tree! Yes it is fake. It is nearly 20 years old and going strong and will probably outlive me! Cutting down a real tree every year may be good for business, but not for the planet. So try and get a root balled tree if you want a real one and re-plant/reuse it. Otherwise alternative #trees , which can often be homemade, are a good option. #ChristmasTree #SaveTrees
