Breda becomes the EU’s first official National Park City.
The creative, cobblestoned Dutch city of Breda has officially become the first National Park City in the European Union.
Officially designated by the National Park City Foundation in May, Breda joins London, Adelaide and Chattanooga as the fourth member of a growing global movement to make urban areas greener, healthier and more connected to nature.

The Cardiff National Park City movement is seeking a passionate and driven person to help make Cardiff one of the most nature-friendly cities in the world.
The National Park City movement is well-established internationally, with London and Adeleide already being confirmed as National Park Cities, and several other cities such as Breda, Glasgow, Chattanooga and Southampton listed as ‘nominated’ National Park Cities.
Cardiff has taken its first steps to become a National Park City, and is now seeking a new Chair to help the movement in the journey. Afallen is a big supporter of the concept and the project; our Partner, David Clubb, was one of the driving forces behind the concept in Wales for a number of years.
The job description calls for somebody who:
- Is passionate about nature and the environment in Cardiff
- Is experienced in partnership working
- Understands issues of governance for small organisations
- Well-networked
- Can act as an ambassador for the movement
