Caller ID of the sea: Novel method of simultaneous acoustic tagging provides insight into whale communication
Team analyzed 50hr of synchronous tag data, 16 tags from 7 groups of whales. Sound and movement data were collected from #humpback #whales in the #GulfOfMaine near #StellwagenBank #NationalMarineSanctuary in the #Atlantic. Simultaneous tagging allows researchers to analyze acoustic data about individual whales and compare that in the context of the group.
