"Since 1984, the struggle of the Kanak people against French colonial rule in New Caledonia has consistently attracted world headlines. It has become a symbol of the new awakening of the indigenous peoples of the Pacific against more than 100 years of imperialist domination.

Yesterday, January 31th, Douglas Bravo died of COVID-19 complications.

He was a historial figure in the Venezuelan revolutionary left who introduced the Bolivarian ideas into the Venezuelan Armed Forces, a guerrilla member in the 60s and later political thinker who opposed from the start the false revolution of Chávez, and later Maduro.

#Anarchism and #nationalism have always had a troubled relationship.

For a long time anarchists have focussed on the concept of class struggle as thé emancipationary ideal of the global opressed. Nationalism was something that only divided the working class and would lead to reactionary domination.

However, the history between the two is far more complicated than that. Many anarchists deride the classreductionist idea of anti-nationalism, viewing nationalism as an integral part of anti-imperialist and anti-colonialist struggle.

In this essay, Roger White rejects white universalism and talks about the revolutionary potential of national liberation.
