  1. Alison Luchs, who has worked at the National Gallery of Art for 47 years, agreed to learn Gen Z slang and make videos because she wanted to raise interest in the museum’s art.

    She never expected to slay.

  4. Puzzle: Claude Monet, Japanese Footbridge

    Pomegranate Puzzle: Claude Monet

Although Pomegranate just calls this puzzle Claude Monet, the painting is “The Japanese Footbridge” (1899) and is in the collection of the National Gallery of Art – see their collection highlight of it.

Great puzzle – tackle the bridge first (after edges of course) then the browns and lily pads – challenging but beautiful.

  10. This painting was Leonardo’s very first portrait.

The portrait is among his earliest experiments with the new medium of oil paint; some wrinkling of the surface shows he was still learning to control it. #art #NationalGalleryOfArt #LeonardodaVinci

  11. When is a Vermeer not a Vermeer? Reputations are on the line over the authenticity of an artwork.

Girl with a Flute will hang in the Netherlands as a painting by the Dutch master – but a US gallery say it is the work of an associate.
