    Today is National Apology Day. On this day in 2008 then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd formally apologised to the Indigenous peoples of Australia for harms done by governments and their representatives.

    Much still remains to be done.

    Human remains stolen by anthropologists and colonisers to sell to foreign museums need to be repatriated.

    First nations children die at a much higher rate than non-Indigenous Australian children, and the life expectancy of an Aboriginal person is up to 11 years less than the non-Indigenous average.

    Gentle Death Education and Planning and Dr Annetta Mallon recognise the traditional owners and pay respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, as well as to those who were not able to attain Elder status.
