finished this and it was absolutely fucking wild. very good, very dark, very odd, very pulpy in all the ways you want a thing to be pulpy. horror in just enough amounts to be horrific, not revoltingly so (Ballingrud is generally pretty restrained & exacting with that sorta thing in all of his stuff), & w/ enough Weird/sci-fi pulp leanings to not fall over itself in moving things along.

Some science fiction writers take the "science" part very seriously. But author Nathan Ballingrud not only didn't do that in his new novella "Crypt Of The Spider Moon," as he says in this exclusive interview, this pulpy lunar Gothic story isn't even sci-fi.

Though it's set on Mars, and has robots, Nathan Ballingrud thinks his new novel "The Strange" is less of a sc-fi story and more a dark fantasy. To find out why, check out this exclusive interview.
