#Nashi (Pyrus pyrifolia) udare asiar zuhaitzak ale bakarra zeukanez, azkarregi bildu nahi ez, eta zalantzan nenbilela, gaur bere kasa lurrera erorita aurkitu dut.
Kanpotik sagar itxura badu ere, barrutik nabariagoa du udaretasuna. Zapore gozokoa, freskoa, urtsua, baina mami trinkokoa. Azala jangarria den arren gogor puntukoa. Irakurri dudanez zurituta jateko ohitura dago.
Landarea sagastira ondo egokitzen ari dela dirudi. Ea hurrengo urtean gehiago ematen duen!

speaking of #nashi, I finished magabanashi n #horror
and so, I have not remotely read everything by nashi, I but have finished all the books that wikipedia lists are written solely by them
about the book itself, it is basically a collection of kaidan
it is decent enough, there weren't bad stories and there were a few nice one, but it is kind of average and honestly not very nashi-like
though it does have a pretty nashi-esque ending
the book purports to be a "missing episode" of magabanashi, a web radio series were the main cast narrates kaidan
supposedly the stories are modified versions of stories they had actually already narrated
I haven't confirmed it, in any case maybe fans of magabanashi would appreciate the book more -
new #Nashi review: Omae no Shiin ni Tobikiri no Kyoufu wo.
Personally, not "quite" as good as Kawaisowara but still very good, 2nd favorite Nashi stuff so far #horrorhttps://7nightstranslations.wordpress.com/2025/04/18/omae-no-shiin-ni-tobikiri-no-kyoufu-wo/

New #nashi review: Jiyuuritsu, which is more of a weird poetry anthology with a story than a novel #horror
https://7nightstranslations.wordpress.com/2025/04/16/jiyuuritsu/
-
this one was closer to 6 in style, though not as relentlessly weird which is admittedly the sell point of 6
overall more of a collection of more straightforward horror stories
on the other hand the stories make if anything less sense once you get the full picture
then again my opinion may change once I let it simmer a few days

New Nashi review: Sono Kaibunsho wo Yomimashita ka. This one I didn't care much for #horror #nashi

thinking a bit more on my recent Nashi's books, my opinion on them has developed a bit
Sono kaibunsho: my opinion on this one is actually the same, the exhibition may have been great (or not, I dunno) but the book is not very interesting
Jiyuuritsu: this one is closer to a poetry book, and the problem is that I just don't Get poetry. there is a great amount of leeway for personal interpretations which is neat but overall maybe not the book for me
Omae no shiin: for this one I have actually gotten more confident in my interpretation and I think is pretty brilliant. the 2nd half is doing something really interesting, but there is still the problem that the text itself is kind of boring

New review: Kawaisowara (かわいそ笑) from Nashi / Nothing (梨), an engaging horror novel #horror #novel #nashi
https://7nightstranslations.wordpress.com/2025/04/10/kawaisowara/
-
it has an interesting structure where the first half is the explanation, and then on the second half it becomes the standard prose
I really liked the first part but then my interest kind of cratered in the second part, which is over half of the whole thing
tbf there are hints that there is more going on than it just being a prose version of the incident, and I *think* I get what Nashi is trying to do, but it doesn't change the fact that in the end half of the book was just not that interesting
#nashi #horror #novel -
still reading 梨, now finished 自由慄
I finished it so fast because it turns out to be extremely short
it has a particular format which does make sense but that has the end result of most pages having just a few lines of text
it's not quite as short as 口に関するアンケート but it's not terribly longer either
as for the story, I still need to think it more
I did get a couple of the ideas but I really need to reread it
which is not that hard because, again, short
#novel #horror #nashi -
keeping on with 梨 I finished その怪文書を読みましたか
it's a compilation of found documentation, almost close to a 100%
with a fair amount of handwriting, sometimes with intentionally bad grammar
so in spite of being pretty short at points it takes some surprising amount of effort to read
as far as I understand it, it is the book version of an actual exhibition
physically going to the exhibition must have been great (it seems there was actually a venue at my city, rip me), but it means that the book is not really a novel proper
there's no overarching story; though there is a setting, and by the end you just about start grasping it
I guess the main weakness is that it is just not THAT creepy, but it was interesting and gives just about enough information to make the connections yourself
#horror #books #nashi -
#novel #nashi #horror
this one i really liked
I got apprehensive once it again got to a disembodied voice just explaining the setting but it does not quite explain everything so it kinda works
I think it works well both as horror and supernatural (...maybe) mystery, giving you a lot of food for thought
and it is a neat twist on the "book that curses you"
now I'm pretty interested in the rest of the stuff from 梨
I already had その怪文書を読みましたか, but it seems to be the book version of an event rather than a novel proper
after it I might just buy the remaining books -
started reading 梨's stuff
finished 6; it was fairly creepy at parts
I also liked the prose, which was surprisingly dense, complete with nested parentheses
but I do think it sins of having the explanation just dumped at you the end (though admittedly it is a creepy infodump)
the final impression is that the hard-to-understand parts are only so because the setting is just bizarre, and once it is given to you no further thought is needed
still as a horror novel is unsettling enough

Jim (kind of?) reviews the Japanese horror story collection 6 by Nashi. In it, he ponders the deeper meaning of "nashi," the horrors of nothingness, and samsara as a theme. #JapaneseHorror #Nashi #Books #BookReviews

"Ich hatte eine Nashi. Lebensmittelrettung und so. Und ich wusste nicht, was ich mit ihr anfangen sollte. Ich esse Nashis nämlich nicht so gerne. Ich mag die Konsistenz in Verbindung mit dem – wie ich finde – sehr neutralen Geschmack nicht besonders. Aber ich wollte sie trotz allem gerne verwerten und nicht irgendwann im Biomüll entsorgen müssen. ... Also, was machen mit meiner Nashi? Vielleicht das, was ich eigentlich sonst immer mache ..."
