Discover the intricate beauty of the Nasca-style spatula adorned with a lizard, reflecting the sacred rituals surrounding the coca leaf. This merging of artistry and functionality sparks curiosity about ancient practices. What stories do you think it holds?

But the even more important take away in all of this is: The #Nasca are so much more than these #geoglyphs!
There's been a lot of research about this whole ritual landscape, settlements, burials, and more in the #Palpa region:

And since the #Nasca weren't the only ones leaving such #geoglyphs, but rather joined there predecessors in doing so, we even can see a #chronological development in their complexity:

We know about the "who" thanks to years of field research, excavations, and analysis - showing that the same designs used for these #geoglyphs are also appearing e.g. on #pottery vessels of the #Nasca:

Since with the news about these newly (re-)discovered #Nasca lines a lot of takes about their supposed "mystery" pop up again: Do we really not know who made them? 🤔
Well, ongoing research in #Archaeology could (and does 😀) tell:

Chandelier of Paracas
South of Lima on the Paracas - Ica peninsula, you can find the so-called Chandelabre which is quite a mystery. It measures 183 meters high, 60 meters wide, and has a depth ranging from 1 to 2 meters. Some theories link it as a magnetic generator or even a kind of navigator compass. Its design is related to the geoglyphs of the #Nasca Lines, the way it was designed is an enigma and its figure despite the strong winds never gets lost. -

More Than 100 New Designs Discovered In Peru’s Ancient Nazca Plain [Peru]

--
“More than 100 new designs discovered in and around Peru’s ancient Nazca plain and surrounding areas could bring new information to light about the mysterious pre-Columbian artworks that have intrigued scientists and visitors for decades.
Following two years of field surveys with aerial photos and drones, Peruvian and Japanese researches from Yamagata University earlier this month reported the discovery of 168 new designs at the Unesco World Heritage site on Peru’s southern Pacific coast.
The geoglyphs, huge figures carved into the South American desert, date back more than 2,000 years and represent humans, cats, snakes, killer whales, birds and native camalids – animals such as llamas, guanacos and alpacas…”
