  1. Messier 27, the Dumbbell Nebula - a dying Sun-like star, quietly leaving behind a glowing shell of gas in the dense star fields of the Milky Way.

  2. The Bubble Maker - WR134 in Cygnus. A Wolf-Rayet star sculpting a spherical emission bubble with its relentless stellar wind over millennia. Imaged in Hubble palette mapping (HOS). NGC 6883 and β² Cygni also in the field.

  3. NGC 281 - the Pacman Nebula in Cassiopeia. A return to a familiar object, this time with a new setup and considerably more integration time. In the Hubble palette (HSO), the dark Bok globules stand out with particular clarity - dense dust structures being eroded by the radiation pressure of the young cluster IC 1590, while possibly hiding new star formation deep within.

  4. Sh2-171 – The Question Mark Nebula in Cepheus. A two-panel mosaic covering over 100 light-years of active star formation, powered by Berkeley 59 — a cluster just 2 million years old. Its O5V star BD+66 1673 burns at 45,000 Kelvin, sculpting the dark pillars visible throughout the frame. Processed in Hubble Palette (HSO).

  5. NGC 2175 - the Monkey Head Nebula - in Orion, about 6.400 light-years away. A star-forming H II region (Sh2-252/NGC 2174) sculpted by the O-type star HD 42088 and dark dust lanes.

  7. Another great night. 5th clear sky night in a row. Unheard of in this neck of the woods. #Narrowband imaging of the Bubble Nebula. Digging this project! #astrophotography 🔭

  8. Wednesday's clear skies continued overnight.

  11. I'm quite happy how the Sii + Oiii data on the Elephant Trunk Nebula from my last two sessions turned out.

This is ~7.5h of data captured with an OSC (RGB) camera and the Askar Color Magic D2 dual narrow-band filter without any processing except for a basic histogram stretch.

Unlike most dual narrow band filters, this filter passes the Sulphur (Sii) emission instead of the usual Hydrogen emission into the red channel of the camera. The blue and green channels capture the Oxygen (Oiii) emission like typical dual narrow-band filters do.

I will combine this data with the Ha data I captured last year to make a SHO image (Sulphur=Red, Hydrogen=Green, Oxygen=Blue) image.

The ethereal beauty of the Crescent Nebula, a striking cosmic bubble nestled in the constellation Cygnus. This celestial marvel, spanning approximately 25 light-years across. The image showcases a rich tapestry of glowing reds and blues, highlighting the nebula's delicate structures, offering a mesmerizing glimpse into the dynamic processes shaping our universe.
