NGC 281 - the Pacman Nebula in Cassiopeia. A return to a familiar object, this time with a new setup and considerably more integration time. In the Hubble palette (HSO), the dark Bok globules stand out with particular clarity - dense dust structures being eroded by the radiation pressure of the young cluster IC 1590, while possibly hiding new star formation deep within.

Sh2-171 – The Question Mark Nebula in Cepheus. A two-panel mosaic covering over 100 light-years of active star formation, powered by Berkeley 59 — a cluster just 2 million years old. Its O5V star BD+66 1673 burns at 45,000 Kelvin, sculpting the dark pillars visible throughout the frame. Processed in Hubble Palette (HSO).

Das ist #NGC281 - der Pacman Nebel im Sternbild Kassiopeia, benannt wegen seiner Ähnlichkeit zum Videospiel-Charakter. Er befindet sich 9200 Lichtjahre entfernt von uns im Perseus Spiralarm der Milchstraße. In seinem Zentrum befindet sich #IC1590 - ein offenes Cluster junger Sterne, die das umegebende Gas zum leuchten bringen.

Das ist der Iris Nebel (NGC 7023) in der Cepheus Konstellation, etwa 1300 Lichtjahre von uns entfernt. Es handelt sich hier um einen Reflexionsnebel, er leuchtet also nicht selbst, sondern reflektiert das Licht des Sterns SAO 10158 in seinem Zentrum. Umgeben wird der Nebel von dunklen Wolken interstellarem Staubs.

Nach monatelanger Auszeit ergab sich endlich eine klare Nacht und wenngleich von meinen 4h Daten nur etwas über 1h verwertbar waren, konnte ich doch endlich ein weiteres Objekt von meiner Wunschliste aufnehmen - den Adlernebel nebst Omega Nebel und Umgebung.
Im Zentrum des Adlernebels erkennt man die berühmten Säulen der Schöpfung.

Weiterhin möchte ich euch gern noch ein eher selten abgelichtetes Objekt zeigen - den Löwennebel im Cepheus.
Dieser sehr schwache Emissionsnebel liegt etwa 10.000 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt und wird vornehmlich von zwei Wolf-Rayet Sternen angeregt.

Dazu möchte ich euch gern noch zwei weitere Varianten zeigen, weil ich mich nicht wirklich für eine entscheiden kann. Hierbei handelt es sich um die "klassische" RGB Variante, mit und ohne Sterne.
Gerade bei letzterer kann man besonders gut die feinen Strukturen in den Nebeln erkennen.

Das sind die Nordamerika (links) und Pelikan Nebel (rechts) im Sternbild Cygnus. Getrennt werden die beiden Emissionsnebel durch die so genannte "Great Wall", eine gigantische Staubwolke.
Die Aufnahme ist als HOO Variante entwickelt, also als Falschfarbendarstellung, um die Verteilung der verschiedenen Gasgebiete zu zeigen.

Dieses Set hatte ich schon gelöscht - das massive Mondlicht hat die Aufnahme komplett überlagert. Aber ich konnte es doch nicht lassen und mit viel Arbeit ließ sich noch eine vorzeigbare Aufnahme herstellen.

Zu guter Letzt in meiner Serie von letzter Woche kommt nun ein Objekt, das eher selten gezeigt wird - Sh2-171. Zusammen mit Sh2-170 (der rote "Punkt" links) ähnelt es für mich einem kosmischen Fragezeichen, mit einer Menge Dunkelnebel und interessanter Struktur im Inneren.

Here is my initial process of my SH2-124 data. 8 hours H-alpha, 7.5 hours [SII] and 10 hours [OII] mapped in the standard SHO palette. The star colours might be a bit off, I haven't checked them yet, but I'm quite pleased as how this came out considering how faint the [SII]/[OIII] channels were.
