Alas, that's not what we got.
A lot of money was spent on this movie. A lot of choices were made. The result was a bland, forgettable dud that immediately fell into a memory hole as soon I departed the theatre.As Napoleon himself would say, BAH! #Napoleonmovie #napoleon2023

When it comes to historic inaccuracies, the French shouldn't take #RidleyScott and his "You weren't there" rebuttal too seriously. He falsely claimed #Napoleon has no #CGI, and he WAS there!

If viewed as epic fantasy it's not that bad. It is a sumptuous/visually stunning film and the acting is mostly solid.
I would advise anyone who watches it to do some research though.

This looks like a hell of a thing.
Now that I was reminded of the group and hashtag, I can ask @histodons #histodons what they think of this.
It seems impossible to do this in one 2.5 hour movie, no? It looks gorgeous, sure, but also a little Game of Thrones-y? And of course, can you really portray Waterloo without the thousands of live soldiers like they did back in the day?
