More fun with my #nanoVNA!
Two almost identical 915MHz antennae sold for use with #meshtastic #lora radios. Roughly the same delivered price. One from ebay, one from aliexpress.
They're both great antennae at the target frequency. However one of them completely shits the bed when you bend the hinge 90°. Antennae are weird.

Last night I used my new toy, a NanoVNA-H4, to make and tune a simple antenna for 920MHz #meshtastic . It was great fun! I put together an antenna that hits 1.35 SWR in free air at the target frequency in half an hour with some workshop junk.
I am very far from being a competent radio ham, but my antenna outperformed the one that came with my Heltec V3, so I'm happy. I got a packet out to my local #brisbane meshtastic network.

Cleaning up the wiring and checking antenna SWR with a NanoVNA.
Was curious if these cheap antennas were similar to their name brand look alikes. And no, no they are not comparable lol. Stick to the name brand I guess for this style of antennas, the cheaper ones are not worth it this time.

A python utility for screen capture from certain tiny devices.
The default device type is extracted from the executed script name. For example if you make a copy of the script and call it capture_tinysaultra.py, it will run with a default device type of tinysaultra.

The #IC7300 did not like my fat fingers in factory default configuration. Very difficult to set the modulation mode. I could make it work with a plastic stylus as supplied with my #nanoVNA, tho. There's a fix for that in the #Icom IC-7300 FULL manual. Using the touch screen calibration fixed it right up.

I don't make these 7 turn #helix antennas to sell via my website any more (sold around 50 of them through covid), but all the details on how to build them are on my GitHub.
I run each through the #NanoVNA and then take them outside to do the real world testing on 98w.
Each helix gives a solid +20db SNR and off the go to all parts of the world.
