  1. Musical Interlude: Late in her career, Nanci Griffith did an album backed by a symphony orchestra. I wasn't wild about it; it was mostly covers of earlier material, and some of the arrangements didn't appeal to me. One track leaped out at me; a new one for her, a cover of a tune by Frank Christian, and with his unique folk/jazz fusion going on. I rather liked it.

  2. Musical Interlude: I hadn't listened to htis album in a long time, and had forgotten how much I liked some of the songs. This is a lovely tune from Nanci Griffith's first album.

  3. Musical Interlude: I may have posted this before, but it's on my mind. I caught the Bette Midler version randomly today; Nanci's version is a big favorite with my sister and I, and we taught it to our parents during a long car trip. Now Mom tells me that any time she hears it on the car radio, she'll pull over and sit and reminisce. Nice to have a song that's a family favorite.

  4. Musical Interlude: Thinking of Nanci Griffith today, who I shall probably miss for the rest of my life. Here's a feisty song from her, written by Lyle Lovett.
