Good Morning #Canada
Over the past few months I've seen several polls asking Mastodonians to vote for Canada's favourite dessert. The top 2 are always the #NanaimoBar and #ButterTart , with too many confused Canadians voting for the wrong one. Despite my bias, I think the history of the Nanaimo Bar is interesting, particularly because a town in B.C. apparently slapped their name on a much older recipe.

CBC radio's "As It Happens" (IIRC) had a contest to find the most Canadian completion of "As Canadian As ..." some years ago.

The winner was "As Canadian as possible, under the circumstances."

Echoing Corner Gas: As Canadian as Nanaimo-style Saskatchewan bars.

Currently beholding the World's Largest Nanaimo Bar.

This is a three-layer dessert bar. Bottom crust of cocoa and coconut, a middle of custard, and a smooth chocolate top. Delicious!
