  1. It seems that some people at #NAM2023 are testing positive for #COVID19. I'll probably take a test myself, although I feel OK.

  2. Off to #GWPopNext! Will there be as many #GravitationalWave candidates as during #NAM2023? A good start with #S230708cf

  3. What is going on in Venus' atmosphere?

Interesting talk at #NAM2023 from updating us on the discovery of phosphine in Venus’ atmosphere, a chemical which on Earth is produced by life. New observations from JCMT add confidence the discovery is real, though the team are struggling to get time on ALMA, the more sensitive telescope.#astrodon

  4. Very pleasant #LGBTQ network session after the final lunch of #NAM2023. Now in the final parallel session of the week...

  5. Apparently we’re calling the Gaia-Enceladus Sausage - a ridiculously-named dwarf galaxy colliding with our Milky Way - GES, pronounced ‘Jess’. An improvement? #nam2023

  6. Been an interesting week at #NAM2023 but frustrating in other ways, we really need to do better at EDI stuff so that the people that need accommodations aren’t the people having to do all the work to make them happen. The LOC and others have been great but also arrrrgh. Still enjoyed getting to chat NRT with people and find out more about the state of the field though so all good!

  7. Qs: could rings form?
    Qs: what to hit next?

A: material may have got stuck in the system leading to a long-lasting tail. As for next targets: top priority is a search telescope, more kinetic impactors to be decided #NAM2023 #Astronomy #DARTMission #PlanetaryDefense

  8. Rivkin mentions: results are open access because planetary defence is a global concern 🌍🌎🌏 #NAM2023 #Astronomy

  9. Issues with using a spacecraft to nudge the orbit of an asteroid: how much debris is created? How long does the debris take to clear? #NAM2023 #Astronomy

  10. Andy Rivkin (@asrivkin) in the house virtually for a plenary on the Double Asteroid Redirection Test: A Crash Course #teamSolarSystem #NAM2023

  11. After taking a decompression break, excited to hear about DART #NAM2023 #Astronomy

  12. Ah! Another #GravitationalWave candidate while I was giving my #NAM2023 talk #S230706ah

  23. Martin Dyer talking about the Gravitational-wave Optical Transient Observer (GOTO) project update. July 2023 - both are sites hardwarewise are now complete - commissioning ongoing goto-observatory.org/ #NAM2023
