NAKED RAYGUN
All Rise
2025 U.S. Remastered reissue
Yellow + Green vinyl [Plutonium]The second of the two Nsked Raygun albums from the Christmas gift pile!
Their second album, and the first album with Kezdy and Spicer on bass and drums respectively.
It’s a very compact, but awesome record: clocking in at a HAIR over 30 minutes.
Feeling down? Wife cheating on you? Kids being a bit disrespectful? Hate your job? Don’t think your life could get much worse?
You’re right. It probably can’t.
But look at the bright side… you could listen to Naked Raygun.
THEYRE awesome… even though you may not be.
Be thankful for that.😂

NAKED RAYGUN
Jettison
2025 U.S. Remastered Reissue
Grape Crush vinylTHIS was my favorite gift from all the Christmas vinyl I received this year.
I friggin love Naked Raygun SO MUCH. I came to them REALLY late in life. It took me until the late 90s to discover just how awesome they were, starting with JETTISON.
This pressing sounds INFINITELY better than previous ones; way punchier, and way more dynamic than the awful 2022 version.
One of the great underrated bands ever.
This was one of two Naked Raygun albums I was given for Christmas. I was also given All Rise, both by the same very good friend.
I love all of their records, but Jettison is my favorite. It’s where my love affair with them started, and the one I revisit the most.
Now that I have a great sounding vinyl version of it, I’ll be cranking it even more.

Naked Raygun - Throb Throb (1985)
Throb Throb is the debut studio album by American punk rock band Naked Raygun, released on Homestead Records in 1985. It was the first of the band’s releases to feature the musicianship of John Haggerty whose guitar playing distinguished the band’s sound during the 1980s. Quarterstick Records reissued the album in 1999, and added an early version of “Libido” as bonus material, which originally appeared on the Flammable Solid 7”.
Naked Raygun had combined resources with other local bands, such as Big Black and The Effigies, to release records themselves under the name Ruthless Records.[5] In 1983 they put out the Basement Screams EP and then, after a change of personnel, recorded the LP Throb Throb. Three songs from the album “"Surf Combat”, “Gear” and a shorter version of “Libido") saw release on Naked Raygun’s first single, Flammable Solid (a tribute to Stiff Little Fingers’ first album Inflammable Material) With their signing to Homestead Records, the release of the full LP was delayed into the following year.
Throb Throb’s lyric sheet was done up to resemble a blueprint with white text on a blue background, and on some versions of the LP the lyrics even appeared backwards in the style of an actual blueprint. The LP remained in print through the 1980s and was mastered onto CD. When Quarterstick Records rereleased the band’s material in 1999, Homestead’s original distributor issued 400 final copies of the LP on green vinyl. The cover was created by Chicago comic book artist Mike Saenz.
Spin wrote, “Delivering garage punk in chummy boys’ voices surrounded by a low, bass-heavy beat and searing, fuzz-happy drones of guitar. Filtering America through a sinister-but fun sensibility is what Throb Throb is about.” John Leland added, “Barring the Hüskers, no one has a stronger sense of roots and a greater affinity for pop hooks. Like most punks, the Rayguns write about sex and the military, but their lyrics are satisfying only for their underlying anger and not for their half-baked truisms.”

Where I Wuz 41 Years Ago #OTD Tonight:
Oct 24, 1984: Washington, DC
Probably my first time seeing the scrawny yet still freakishly imposing Albini backed by his drum machine "Roland" , with that edgy guitarist Santiago Durango on one side of Albini and on the other, at least for ths tour was Jeff Pezzati (also known as lead vox of #Chicago sound stalwarts #NakedRaygun with whom Durango spent time in as well. Later tours featured the formidable scarface bassist Dave Riley)

I’m reimagining the lyrics to Naked Raygun’s “Hips Swingin’”:
Check me out ya know I'm a major world power
Watch me as I swing my hips around…
Hey you little North American Canajun-speakin' country
Watch me as I whip some economic force right on ya
You'll still have a bit of your own personality left
Don't you worry you know this kind of thing happens all the time

Listening to my #Vinyl #Collection - Album 176
#NakedRaygun – Jettison (1988)
I feel like this is the album where it all came together for them. Their sound, their songs, the production - everything. It's perfect.

Listening to my #Vinyl #Collection - Album 175
#NakedRaygun – Throb Throb (1985)
Whoa! The bass is all in on this album. It bounces like no other Naked Raygun LP. I had to adjust my EQ to keep it from rattling.
Plenty of "Whoas" and "Heys" just the way I like it.
Fun album!

Listening to my #Vinyl #Collection - Album 174
#NakedRaygun – All Rise (1986)
Some of the songs are slower and have more of a groove, which is cool and unique for a punk album.
I too play a Bass Implement.

Great #punk album. A must listen.

One of my favorite '90s shows; not as dark and surreal as #TwinPeaks, but still plenty eccentric and weird. Watched a few episodes this past weekend — "Ed" wore #NakedRaygun, #U2 and #NeilYoung shirts all in the pilot. #Cicely #NorthernExposure https://www.brooklynvegan.com/90s-tv-series-northern-exposure-hits-streaming-for-first-time-ever-with-the-original-soundtrack/

@JSkier Cool. So that 90s Fat Wreck sound 🤘
Some of my favorites are #DeadKennedys, #Misfits, #DillingerFour, #TheDamned, #Descendents, #NakedRaygun, #GroovieGhoulies, #Calabrese.
I also like some of #Goldfinger's earlier stuff. Not a fan of the last few albums.
