Episode 16 of Nadia The Secret of Blue Water is one of the best episodes of all of TV that I have watched and it's solely because of its atmosphere.

And Grandis decides to break out the big guns for the crew...

Much to the chagrin of Electra who is getting in digs about her age which is just delicious! You can tell that both Grandis and Electra's V/A are enjoying this. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Aaaaaand Jean climbs over the top of some rocks...to see Nadia and Grandis changing clothes.

And both girls get a knock-out shot! Well done. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Aaaaand Grandis is going all fangirl seeing Nemo escort the kiddos on shore.

Meanwhile the Engineer and Helm Officer are having a chat about Grandis...

And so the Nautilus surfaces to go on a hunting expedition.

Gee, I wonder why Nemo has a Blue Water like Nadia? HMMMMMM...#NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

...a rare laugh from Nemo. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

...and of course we have a reference to the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Knowledge...

Because it wouldn't be a Gainax or Hideaki Anno production without a biblical reference. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

And Nemo gives us a clue about the ship...the engine has the power to go to the stars. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

OH SNAP...Grandis hit on Electra's age...

Meanwhile Jean stumbles upon the engine of the Nautilus...and a random Captain Nemo. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

And everyone chases after King who had a little too much of Grandis cooking and ran away with a fire in his belly. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

That is too funny--Nemo being impressed with King's intelligence. And of course, the subject of Nadia comes up.

COMMERCIAL BREAK!

And Grandis is now in charge of the food. Heaven help them all. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Ah, a rare sight--Nemo without his hat and both eyes revealed.

...even though he looks terrified at Grandis "Fish" dish.

Gotta feel sorry for him--he's stared death in the face countless times...only to face Grandis cooking. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

I love how the chef is just hanging out against the wall watching Grandis and Nadia screw up this meal like "Yeah, this ain't on me chief." #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Okay, Nadia has cut EVERY SINGLE FINGER on her hand...

Why didn't anyone take the knife away after the FIRST TIME she cut herself?! #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Aaaaaaand Nadia takes a uniform and cuts it down because it was too big.

Meanwhile, Marie gets a job to do--MATHMATICS.

HOWEVER, our boys ain’t having Grandis risk her life so they knock her out and go out on the mission themselves!

…and Nemo…SMILES hearing this? Well I’ll be—Captain Iceberg has a heart after all. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

And Captain Nemo pays Grandis a visit, and like all gentlemen, he removes his hat allowing the audience to see our good captain completely. Handsome gent. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Heh. Jean and Hanson are just too fast friends geeking out over the Nautlius. You love to see it! #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

“If he said it needs 48 hours, then we will give him 48 hours so we can make sure the repairs are done properly and well.”

Last time on #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater, Jean, along with help from the Grandis Gang manage to rescue Nadia, Marie and King from the evil clutches of Gargyole. Just when all hope seemed lost, The Nautlius with Captain Nemo at the helm swoops in for the save!

Now begins the “Life Aboard the Nautlius” arc! `

ANd Gargoyle SOMEHOW manages to survive that massive explosion in his…Zepplin?

Say what you will about Gainax anime—

They know how to animate some beautiful power up/power transfer sequences! This whole sequence with Babel powering up to fire is reminiscent of Evangelion. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

"We shall recreate the final night of Sodom and Gomorrah!"

Ambitious, much Gargoyle? #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

And there's the Tower of Babel.

...not the LITERAL Tower of Babel but the one Gargoyle built. Operational long story short--Babel fires a blast in the air, that beam comes back down, bye-bye whatever is under it. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Last time on #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater, our intrepid trio infiltrated the Big Baddie Gargoyle's base! Nadia, in a rare instance of selflessness, gave herself up so Jean can escape!

Let's get started!

WOW...I do NOT remember "Nadia" being THIS brutal! We just saw Gargoyle's team GUN DOWN people trying to escape! We don't see them get shot, but what we do see is BRUTAL.

Something just dawned on me...

Unless I'm mistaken, It's never FULLY explained why exactly the Grandis Gang wants the Blue Water. They don't work for any huge evil organization...they just want the jewel? Weird...#NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Jean, my green-socked bro...each time you guys have took to the skies, it's ended in CATASTROPHIE.

So we start with our Team Rocket Knockoff group adrift at sea…Samson on fishing duty, Hanson trying to navigate and Grandis…being useless.

Yup. Team Rocket Knockoffs. #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

Okay, onwards to Episode 4 where our trio meets up with the most epic submarine captain in all of anime! #NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater

And it’s here where we learn that Nadia is, in fact, a vegetarian.

…an insufferable vegetarian.

And in her eyes, if you aren’t, you’re brimming with evil even though you’re helping her! NO excuses!

Jean made an escalator...that broke down.

Over a century later, mall escalators have the exact same problems, so Jean shouldn't feel bad. #NadiaTheSecretofBlueWater

It's something how both Jean and Renton from #EurekaSeven fell quick and hard for their respective crushes!

Renton took a leap off a cliff and Confessed to Eureka on DAY ONE.

Jean decided to rescue Nadia and get involved FROM JUMP.
