I hate Richard Neal. The man talks progressively like many Democrats, but he is a moderate. He is a professional corporate politician who acts more like a sports broadcaster.
He acts like:
"Look at all the horrible things Republicans are doing. Look! Look again. Isn't it awful? Keep looking."That is what moderates do. They point out awful things, but they do little to stop them or undo the harm conservatives cause. They encourage you to protest — which gives them a break from you bothering them — while you are marching in the street feeling like you have done something when all you have done is been loud.
It feels good, but it doesn't change anything, because all those letters and emails people send end up in their spam boxes. Moderates are the same people who, after an election, will tell you that now is not the time for change or accountability, and that we should all focus on unity — when change and accountability are all we want and need. It is a lot like how, after a major tragedy, they tell us that now is not the time to talk about gun control or mental health.
At best, moderates will try to pass healthcare when conservatives are running things, and then claim they were stopped. Duh! Of course you were stopped — you are not running things.
But when moderates are finally running things, they just talk, point, and say, "Look how awful conservatives are." I don't want you to keep pointing at their nonsense; I want you to do something about it.
We need progressives. We need people who are actually going to fight for change and accountability, instead of acting like sports broadcasters pointing at the awfulness while doing nothing to make it right.
I don't want a breadcrumb just to pacify people — if I'm lucky. I want the whole damn bakery. But at this point, I'll settle for a loaf or two.
