  1. People can protect themselves by staying indoors or by wearing #N95masks, she said. Strykowski added that they must be N95s because the cloth #masks many people used during the COVID-19 pandemic don’t provide enough #filtration.

[My additional advice: be sure to always carry your rescue #inhaler!! If you can use an allergy #filter on your HVAC system. Close your windows & use an indoor air filter machine.]

  2. N95 Masks Nearly Perfect at Blocking COVID, UMD Study Shows

“Any common face mask provides significant protection against the virus that causes #COVID-19, but #N95Masks are most effective at slashing the amount emitted by infected people

So-called “duckbill” N95 masks scored highest in the study, which measured the exhaled breath of participants who were tested both masked and unmasked to measure comparative outputs of SARS-CoV-2.

The inexpensive masks, which have two head straps and a horizontal seam, captured 98% of exhaled virus, according to the study published in eBioMedicine”

  3. Maryland Today | #N95Masks Nearly Perfect at Blocking #COVID, UMD… today.umd.edu/n95-masks-nearly “The research shows that any mask is much better than no mask, and an N95 is significantly better than the other options. That’s the No. 1 message,..

The results also suggest that N95 masks, also known as #respirators, should be the standard of care in nursing homes and health care settings when respiratory viral infections are prevalent and transmission risk is elevated”

Look up, wise up, rise up!

    * Don't call me a hero, end capitalist medicine

  5. Another good one:

Please consider signing this petition urging CDC Director Mandy Cohen to acknowledge and advocate for a multi-layered (Swiss cheese) approach to preventing COVID. Let her know that the current “You do you” and vaccine-only approaches don’t cut it.

I just got Covid, this is a reminder to get your booster instead!

And I’d say mask up in crowded spaces until you do

I almost definitely got it talking with people outside at a barbecue, or walking down a street at a not very tightly packed street festival

    #CovidIsNotOver

And I’d suggest #MaskUp with good #N95Masks (not just blue surgical masks or cloth with gaps)

In Canada, these folks sell mask samples so you can see which kind fits you best:

  7. What doctors wish patients knew about wearing N95 masks

"In fact, N95 and KN95 masks were found to be 48% more effective than surgical or cloth masks, according to a CDC study. Wearing an N95 or KN95 mask reduces the odds of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 by 83%. This is compared with 66% for surgical masks and 56% for cloth masks, further pushing the need to swap out such face coverings for an N95 or KN95 mask for protection from SARS-CoV-2."

  8. Mask study: Results: We found significant effects in both medical surgical and N95 masks, with a greater impact of the second.

A systematic review of 2,168 studies that looked into the adverse effects of wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic has found that the practice led to negative health consequences, including itching, headaches, and restriction of oxygen.

Not a problem. Simple public health things, starting with educating the population, who currently think it's all over. Then free #N95masks for all indoor activities (other than own home, of course). Clean air is next - air purification in all government buildings, schools, etc, & subsidies for businesses. Finally, information about the absolute effectiveness of #COVID19 vaccines with real, accurate data. No need for lockdowns, nothing drastic. Simple, effective measures.

    Awesome!
I have materials to make mini #corsirosenthalboxes (Mi house is not too big)..
When working or shopping, I have upgraded from the initial cloth masks, and now I’m wearing #N95masks.
I’m my mother’s primary caregiver, and she has emphysema, so I rather stand out than take chances.

  11. Insane that we can’t be safe from Covid in the hospital and could die from this exposure in Canada. So many have . We need lawsuits this is going against precautionary principle to do no harm. Hospitals can’t pretend this isn’t airborne anymore !! Protect your workers and patients. #N95masks thetyee.ca/Analysis/2022/05/11

  12. How N95 masks really work.

"You might imagine N95 masks as essentially a strainer intended to catch small particles, but as Minute Physics shows in this video, what these masks do is actually much more clever."
