#Dinkum is a cute game and it's hitting my #AnimalCrossing button without having to play it on Switch (though it is coming to Switch soon!). I had been looking for a substitute to run on my #ROGAllyX and it definitely fits the bill. It has a very strong Animal Crossing feel.. Except the part where I watched a shark snag a dingo that was sitting in the shallows. Heh.
I also started playing #MyTimeAtPortia and that one seems pretty neat too. Very pretty. Feels a little less fantasy than #Palia but similar in other ways.
I've been hunting for some games to keep my attention and hoping these will fit the bill.

I will be playing the game still because there are character stories I've yet to see. Plus, the Museum needs to be filled with all the items that can go there.
I want to hunt for some achievements (it could be my other playground game, like Dying Light).
-
I completed the main story in My Time at Portia. It was a bit gruelling towards the end because suddenly you needed a ton of crystal and it never had a high drop percentage!
I think it's a cute game with teeth, because the logistics challenge of keeping yourself supplied and assembling items requires strong planning skills.
I find myself ready to play My Time at Sandrock because I got so familiar with the gameplay loop.
-
I had my second failed quest happen in the My Time at Portia...Because the time wasn't right for her to be led to the mayor's office (they didn't program in the flexibility for her to see the mayor during his normal business hours).
The crystal hunt is a slog until my crystal producing trees start to bear mineral fruit! In the meantime, I expanded my farming operation, upgraded my factory, started relic hunting more intensely, and working on filling up the Museum.
-
I finally met Greenie's dad (who looks like a clone of my character save for a bigger nose, belly, and slightly shorter beard). He challenged me off to a Builder Bout after being on a mission for over 13 years. That's a wild little story.
The worst thing about the object we're to build is that it primarily uses too many rare resources: Crystal and Sapphire. The two which I have the least of. I'm deeply irked by this development.
-
A lot of the anime which I've got in my watch list have dropped an update today! I'm going to be busy catching up while washing my laundry.
After the new episodes and laundry is washed...I can play My Time at Portia because that game is so good! I made so much progress yesterday that the momentum truly built up. I think I could buy the next game after reaching the endgame in Portia.
-
The payoff for working so hard on gathering materials is finally here to be savored! Automation has arrived at my soon to be fabulous Workshop...I will have cornered the market for world's fastest Commission filler.
Higgins better sit down because this green baddie is going to wreck his capitalistic dreams. 😂 🤭

With the Southern Block built up as a rest stop and commerce outpost, the next project for Portia has been created: Build up the Portia Harbor.
So far everything has lived up to my expectations in terms of the aesthetic (shabby post-apocalyptic chic) I can't wait to see what improved Harbor looks like!
-
My Time at Portia feels amazing to play (I stopped flying by the seat of my pants, planning has taken center stage).
I love rebuilding the town Portia and adding further improvements based on characters asking me to via quests.
I've upgraded my production machines, most commissions take mere days in-game to complete now. Everything simply clicked and it's forward momentum from this point on for me.
After work, I'm going to be knees deep in the game for hours.
-
My fridge is being repaired so that's great! One fan gave up the ghost, this caused the circuit board to burn out and that caused the other fan/circuit board to short as well. Hopefully, I'll have a working refrigerator by the time I come home from work.
I made a ton of progress in #MyTimeAtPortia got married to Dr. Xu but I need to move the bed, so he sleeps in our home!
Opened a new region and got all the Dee-Dee Stops put in place for fast travel.
-
I made a lot of progress in My Time at Portia...I even participated in the Martial Arts Tournament! (hopefully, I'll be the undisputed winner!)
Not only did a new episode of "The Faraway Paladin" air, "The Apothecary Diaries" was also released today! It's a wonderful day so far, this will give me energy to survive the few days I work.
-
I remember why I paused my playthrough of My Time At Portia...All the machines produce materials so slowly, that you need to be incredibly precise in your planning.
Sometimes, I just wanna fly by the seat of my pants! I might pull myself up by my digital bootstraps and plan out my resource production to suit my project needs.
-
Played a few days of My Time At Portia...It felt nice to get back into the game, PC performance is good. I'm not as far in the game as I was on Xbox. So, this is a clean slate for me to play with. My choice for a partner is Xu as he's gentle and cares about his patient's health.
My first romance choice was Arlo because he's a tall, handsome redhead! It was his intense sense of justice that made me choose him as well.

October 8, 2023 - Day 281 - NewPlay Review
Total NewPlays: 300Game: My Time At Portia
Platform: Steam
Release Date: Jan 15, 2019
Installation Date: Jan 5, 2020
Unplayed: 1372d (3y9m3d)
Playtime: 35mMy Time At Portia is a cozy third-person post-apocalyptic crafting RPG.
Customise your avatar, and then the ferry docks at Portia where you alight to take over your father's old workshop, and become one of the town's builders.
Chop down trees, break rocks, make tools, I've done it all before in so many games, and while it's nice to have a post apocalyptic game where society has actually been rebuilt, it's a bit too cutesy for me.

Been playing #MyTimeAtSandrock lately (an amazing game, better than Portia and even, dare I say, better than #StardewValley despite being very, very, very unfinished)
Can’t help noticing that the backstory of the world is very similar to #Fallout , in a way - human-made catastrophe, post apocalyptic, humanity survived underground and only recently emerged, mutant monsters roaming around. However, where Fallout is gritty wasteland with dangerous people and a dog eat dog world, Portia/Sandrock are cutesy #HopePunk #Solarpank not-yet-utopia with mostly good people trying their best.
Just an observation that it is not the events that make the tone of the work
