The censer, or thurible , burns incense, with the smoke representing prayers going up to heaven. Which is where the angels are when they are not in Ethiopia. So maybe this is a fallen angel?
Angels gained wings in the 4th century or so; Biblical angels don’t have them.

I am looking for a small mythical creature for a story in this series. I don't want a humanoid one - no leprechauns or brownies, definitely no fairies. But an actual animal-like mythological creature that's maybe a couple of feet long/tall max. Anyone have any ideas? The Google is failing me today.
