  1. 2018 Hei Zhuan Black Brick Heicha from MyTeaPal club. This is a type of compressed Anhua Heicha that is not inoculated with "Golden Flowers" (Eurotium cristatum). Slightly smoky, very similar flavor to a rustic raw puerh. Lots of stems in the tea. Still figuring out how to brew this super densely compressed tea. Definitely Heicha for Raw Puerh drinkers!

  2. The final tea from the May, 2025 MyTeaPal Club is Yibin Eco Green Tea. It is another Sichuan early spring green tea, this one from Yinxing Village, Yibin, Sichuan. Fresh steamed sweet green vegetables and umami. Slight astringency and lingering sweetness.

  3. Another tea from the MyTeaPal May 2025 club, Cloud Mist Green aka Guiding Yunwu Tribute Tea. The brewed tea is a pleasant pale green that hard to capture. Umami, light fresh vegetal character, touch of returning sweetness.

  4. I really should remember to drink my green teas fresher. This is a very nice Meng Ding Ganlu from the MyTeaPal Club, and the freshness adds to the enjoyment of the scent and flavor.

  6. Dancong Oolong are often called after a fragrances they evoke, sometimes these fragrances are familiar to Western audiences, sometimes they are not. This Po Tou Xiang Dancong from MyTeaPal is one of the "not". Supposedly evocative of the flowers of Chinese Violet (Telosma cordata), I've got no frame of reference for the scent. It is a very nice!

  7. Vincent told me this year's MyTeaPal Club rock teas, (April, 2025,) are nicer than the batch from last year, (February, 2024,) but this Dong Pian Rou Gui from last year IS actually very good. Medium-Heavy Oxidation and roast, a bit uncommon in modern rock tea producers.

  9. Yong Chun Fo Shou from MyTeaPal is a very green Fujian oolong , low oxidation and little to no roast. Enjoyable and perfume forward, more in modern Anxi or Taiwan style than Wuyi.

  15. 2011 Cao Gen Raw Puerh from MyTeaPal Club. I usually associate Bulang with burly smoky teas, but this is not. The tea itself is fairly sweet and not super assertive. Stored in Guangdong since 2011, the assertive part of this raw puerh is the storage flavor. A good contrast to the clean storage of yesterday's Mangfei Dashu.
