Day 17: Mobster There's no other answer except for Seo Ji Hwan's ML in #MySweetMobster. A believable soft mobster, and it was nice to see him looking out for his gang. #DramaJobChallenge #KDrama

It's quite interesting to get a snippet of campus life in South Korea and such club as the cheering squad. It's different from cheerleading, as the goal is to make the crowd move with them.

I developed a big second lead syndrome for Jin Sun-ho (#KimHyunJin #김현진), who also plays the handsome manager in #MySweetMobster.

An ex-gangster starts a company to give ex-convicts a 2nd chance but his past follows him. A children's content creator gets involved with him & his company & a suspicious prosecutor. The story is nothing new, - a love triangle, a childhood love, forced separation, & more tropes.

BUT it's still funny, clever & sweet! The acting is wonderful & the chemistry amongst all - except the 2nd ML (It is intentional, his clothes even reflect his blandness) is fabulous. The ML's sidekicks provide comic relief. The 2nd couple is so lovely. Wordplay is smart, & the symbolism with colors & flowers (FL's fav, sunflower, means "happiness" & that is totally what she brings to the world). The FL's costumes are cute, the MLs' clothes are perfect, & his voice deserves a mention. Sound effects, the dog, & the animations all work beautifully! Great OST! A very FUN watch!

I pushed through to ep 9 of #KDrama #MySweetMobster largely because I was mildly interested in the mystery/crime elements, but in the end it was too much like hard work. REALLY astonishing to me that this Drama made in 2024 has Kwon Yul playing basically EXACTLY the same character he did in the first of his works I saw, My Fair Lady - which was made FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. Clearly, he knows his niche😂

I dropped #KDrama #SerenditysEmbrace mostly for its tsundere ML, but another factor was heavy use of 'cute drunk' scenes. The rabid hypocrisy of Korean culture in castigating DUIs as the most vile criminals imaginable (while Burning Sun et al get a pass, apparently) and at the same time promoting alcohol abuse as funny and/or endearing is utterly nauseating to me. And there's plenty of it in #MySweetMobster too, which may well precipitate another drop from me.

You're not someone who easily drops a drama and it's hilarious how I am excited about #DNALover while you can't be convinced by it!

As counter examples I dropped #MySweetMobster and #QueenOfTears, two dramas highly appreciated in this community!

@s1m0n4 I'm glad it tickled your funny bone. Some makjang I enjoy and some just rubs me the wrong way. I though #MySweetMobster was adorable but it wasn't for everybody.

@whoosh @KDramaQn Yed, I also vote for the sound effects and other campy additions in #MySweetMobster since it's a show that never takes itself too seriously. In some dramas, they annoy me but it's surprisingly rare.

I've been watching #
MissNightAndDay
with a friend so won't finish for a while but I agree that it's not the strongest drama. It's clearly a lot lower budget than several of the recent releases. Still, it's pleasant and entertaining. #MySweetMobster recently completed and is much stronger with some similar themes.
I'll try to remember #SummerStrike when I complete the very long #EmpressKi.

I like the second couple way more than the leads, but it's probably not enough to keep me going.
Literally nothing unpredictable happens. And all I can keep expecting is a kidnapping of the FL and the predictable ML's heroic rescuing mission.
