On #Printables , you can find 3D printed accessories for the #mynd Bluetooth speaker. I hope, this will get even more traction. The open source concept brand Teufel is following here is exemplary.

The front covers are an obvious customisation idea. I like the handle and the stand.

Again, I bought it 10 days ago.

Why would they refuse to take it back and say I bought it too long ago?
I am not sure the #TeufelAudio #MYND is even on the market that long?

I actually like #TeufelAudio as a company, that's why I thought I could ask their support some detailed enthusiastic questions.

Instead, all I get is automated responses

I bought the #MYND 10 days ago.

I made the mistake of combining my latest questions with the statement that i would like to send it back.

All my questions were ignored.

Instead I was told, that they won't ! take it back, since it's past the legal 14 days and their 8 weeks are only if they feel like it.

Got first answer from #TeufelAudio about #MYND

A lot of "reasons could be" and "maybe" and "possibly" and not one concrete answer to my questions except the one about the deadline for sending it back.

My guess ist, a lot of that first answer, was generated with AI. Especially because it re-stated one of the things that I said in the first e-mail that was actually wrong and a support technician should have noticed that.

Let's wait on the second answer :-)

My suspicion is, that #TeufelAudio has very little control over their
Bluetooth-Audio features.

The #ATS2835P, used in the #MYND, supports neither LE-Audio nor Auracast. Party-Link uses proprietary broadcom CSB.

Presumably, they can license addon firmware modules/codes, but that's it.

Changing to ATS2835P2 would enable #Auracast, but would make it incompatible with existing MYNDs. (not a big deal)

also tested #TeufelAudio #MYND Bluetooth-Audio via Linux.

#SBC-XQ is also NOT supported. The MYND accepts the stream just fine, but stays silent. When switching back to old SBC, audio returns.

neither #LC3 nor #opus are supported.

#TeufelAudio #mynd only supports SBC codec!! 😑

I was really looking forward to testing the #LC3 codec. No such luck.
Also my Android does not do SBC-XQ 😑

Typical Teufel again, supporting only the worst bluetooth codec.

Tested #Bluetooth vs USB-C Audio with FLAC encoded song "Eternal Darkness (Autumn): Part I" of Wintersun's "The Forest Seasons" and even I can (just barely) hear the difference.

Let's see what the support says, before I decide if I will send it back. Otherwise awesome speaker!

Gut gemacht #Teufel , das ist der Weg. Hoffentlich wird das von den Kunden honoriert. #MYND ist wartbar, reparierbar und erweiterbar, weil die HW und FW offengelegt wurden. (Es gibt ihn auch in anderen Farben.... 😉)

@dreirik just tested the #mynd a little bit on rock / metal:
I would argue that this genre is one of the strengths of this speaker.

My test of Metallica ‘battery‘ underlined the good sound of acoustic guitars during the intro. The whole song sounded great.
The solo guitar in ‚fade to black‘ felt a little bit weak. But this is a tough one for a small speaker, I guess.
Black Sabbath ‚paranoid‘ sounded excellent.

So where did my „not excitement“ come from? I think, it was with some Pink Floyd. But that is kind of unfair in hindsight, because I usually listen to this band on very decent vinyl stereo step.

I think, it’s a good sounding Bluetooth speaker. Not exciting for the size. But good. 👍

And we have to put our money on hardware which is leading in the right direction.

Habe mich spontan für einen Teufel MYND Lautsprecher interessiert, weil das Ding mit Open Source Plänen kommt, sehr gut reparierbar und nachhaltig ist.

Eine tolle Sache.

Nur brauche ich derzeit keinen Leutsprecher - und selbst wenn, würde mich der Preis von 250 € wohl abschrecken :S

I wanted to find out, what #teufel meant when stating "Bluetooth 5.3 almost lossless music streaming".

It all depends on the #WB-2835P #bluetooth IC and it's 2019 datasheet is not impressive.

no #LC3 or LC3plus listed

(it could have a newer firmware now. In 2019 LC3 was not a thing yet.)

AAC is listed

(but possibly optionally licensable, something Teufel usually does not do with their devices)

obviously no LDAC or LHDC or aptX-Adaptive.

Does anybody have some insight?

Looking at schematics and #firmware of #Teufel #MYND waterproof portable speaker.

Very cool to check out their #OpenHardware design, though not much to see.

Everything of note runs through the WB-2835P #Bluetooth / Audio Module. It even acts as USB-Soundcard and digitizes Line-In, then outputs #I2S to the amplifier chips.
