Wenn es hier um Filme geht, die älter sind, als der Autor dieses Blogs, dann ist mindestens Vorsicht geboten. Denn Erinnerung täuscht. Und Nostalgie ist nicht immer hilfreich, weil früher war ja eigentlich kaum etwas wirklich besser war. Aber wenn es um solches Kino geht, dann bin ich eben dessen erstes Opfer. Denn wer (viel) jünger ist, als 40 oder, 50, kennt Louis de Funès möglicherweise nur noch als Meme. Und Jean Marais, den Charaktergiganten des französischen Kinos haben wohl selbst viele von den Älteren längst vergessen. Danke @ZDF! Denn heute bin ich wieder 10 Jahre alt und sitze doch noch mal mit offenem Mund vor dem Bildschirm. (ZDF, Wh.)

#Iwatched #BonjourTristesse (1958) and it was a mixed experience. #DavidNiven and #MylèneDemongeot are obviously seasoned actors but the main role is #JeanSeberg and she's tense and controlled, even when she's having fun. Not her fault, but still. The best part is how her close companionship with her father is portrayed. The book is an Electra fantasy for hedonists and watching Niven and Seberg recklessly pursue their pleasures is charming and hilarious. The moralistic ending is best ignored.

OSS 117: Mission for a Killer (1965), a solid French eurospy film that starts with a a series of suicide bombings in South America. Possibly the best of the OSS117 series. With three beautiful dangerous women. Stylish, and pure high-octane fun.

Fantomas (1964), first of the popular French Fantomas adventure/crime films. Superficially with a lot in common with the eurospy movies of the 60s. Certainly influenced by the success of the Bond movies.

Based on the early 20th century Fantomas novels.

Fantomas is one of the great diabolical criminal masterminds.

Great stylish fun.
