Here are four visitors to our house this week. It's the first time I've seen this wee native moth species, Crypsitricha mesotypa.

I just checked and I'm now up to 101 species, mostly insects, that I've found and photographed inside our house.

I was thinking this evening about how our home, of two working biologists, is not quite a normal home.

Some evidence:

1) Boxes of electronic gadgets on the floor (in this case AudioMoth audio recorders for bird monitoring).

2) Office drawers containing drying pinned moths.

3) *Lots* of recently recharged batteries to drive assorted gadgets, currently lying on our hallway floor.

4) Bookshelves of mostly nonfiction books.

I’ll be happy if I can stay out of bed today (until tonight when I actually want to go to sleep!). I know I need to go easy on myself but sleeping during the day seems to increase my anxiety. I wake up feeling panicky, even though I go to sleep feeling safe and warm. 🎢

So! I’ve put on the ABC News channel so there is constant chatter. 🎤 I’m working in my study but when I feel overwhelmed I’m going into the lounge room instead. Tiny things make a difference sometimes and this week I think this is the change I need.
