  1. If RFK Jr was Australian, he’d already have most of his register, in the form of #MyHealthRecord. theguardian.com/us-news/2025/a

Australia already has a register of autistic people who haven’t opted out from MHR record keeping. Virtually any other diagnosis for anything else, too. Big treasure trove of data kept by the Australian government for any purpose they choose, including any purpose they haven’t legislated *yet*.

    We’re literally already there.

As is often the case, we spend a lot of time pointing hilariously at the USA and commenting about how stupid/oppressive/authoritarian they‘ve become, but we lack the self-consciousness to see that we’re worse.

  2. The Australian Government has a central digital records system called My Health Record.

Anyone in the medical system have an intelligible take as to if this is worth the privacy costs to be sharing health info into a central health record.

Im weighing up the benefits of "medical staff being able to access my records in a time of high need" vs future versions of the state using this information to discriminate / make decisions in the background that are not in the individuals benefit.

  8. Got my opt out confirmation from #MyHealthRecord. Have you yet?

  10. Suddenly #MyHealthRecord is neither opt-in or opt-out, but mandatory if you need government support. This is a horrendous over reach by authorities. t.co/qFMTllFU12

@AuDigitalHealth, making users install/enable a plugin that ASD tells everyone to block/uninstall, because riddled with security holes. cc @CyberGovAU.

  14. « @Info_Aus I agree. I am a GP, and I have accessed #MyHealthRecord a handful of times in several years. It is a mess of information, with no guarantee of accuracy or completeness. I think #MHR is more about ‘big data’ than patient care. »

  20. « I guess the fact that #MyHealthRecord data is retained for 30 years after you die is a bit of a clue that it's not really about better health outcomes for you.
No amount of well collated data is going to help you when you're dead. »

Once thought it was a great idea, but contempt, loathing & mistrust of Turnbull Government & its incursion into personal privacy, leads me to have grave concerns it will abuse all public records volunteered to its captive agencies #insiders »

  22. « @noplaceforsheep Eight years ago I remember thinking that a digital medical record could be an extremely useful tool on a practical every day health management level. Now the thought terrifies me. I opted out. This is where our government trust level is at. It's more worrying than #myhealthrecord »
