#MyDearest was an epic historical drama based on a period when Korea was occupied by the Qing. It borrowed heavily from Gone With The Wind. The drama was amazing, very emotionally draining as the leads went from tragedy to tragedy during incredibly difficult times. #NamkoongMin particularly shone as the ML.

#MyDearest is SUCH an epic saga, using the ill-fated romance of the leads to follow a difficult period of Joseon history. There are definitely parallels with GWTW but it's a very unique story.

I just started "My Dearest" - on episode 3.

The thing I remember most about the book "Gone with the Wind" (read years ago) is how Rhett & Scarlett's pride got in the way of their relationship (and how much that annoyed me).

I haven't yet seen that from the ML's character (maybe a little about the lower regions problem... )

Yes, I generally space out sageuks unless they have a particularly interesting twist or a unique time period. #MisterSunshine and #MyDearest were two amazing examples, neither of which spent too much time around royalty or politicians.

Looks good and it's on my watchlist but requires a Viki+ subscription. I'm not so interested in upgrading for the odd series here and there. I notice that #MyDearest has now moved down to regular Viki so I'm thinking about rewatching at some point. There was a lot that went on in that show! #kdrama

Ooh, very interesting! It's been a lifetime since I read Dostoevsky but it was interesting in the original so I'm sure that I'll enjoy this one as well.

This version of this song is so beautiful. The original also makes my eyes start watering. I once had to turn the song off because I was driving to work and sobbing. Honestly I absolutely hated My Dearest after the first episode but I stuck with it and by the end I loved it so much. It ripped my heart to pieces in ways only someone like me who is a rape survivor can truly understand.

Currently watching #DearFairLadyKongShim and it's the silly in-between show I need right now. Really physical comedy, highly illogical relationships and events, and winning no matter what. It's fun.

@Nouscat I wouldn't subscribe to the Plus for ONLY that show: 8 24-minute episodes. However, it's well worth it for #MyDearest a beautifully bittersweet series going back to days when Genghis Khan invaded China, boring heavily from Gone With the Wind.

It's one of the few shows that requires #Viki Plus in my region so I watched it during the month I had paid the premium to watch #MyDearest. If I pay the premium again at some point, I'll rewatch it. It's so short but very memorable and lovely! #kdrama
I hope to visit #korea in 2025 and after some investigation, I learned that I can do a #TempleStay like she did in one of the earliest episodes. Fascinating!

Day 23: longest drama you completed in 2023
I'm pretty sure that this was #MyDearest, at 21 1 hour+ episodes. A couple of others may have been close. However, this felt longer in many ways because it covered a long historical period and the angst never really stopped for our main characters! It was fabulous, well-worth the hype it's received.
