Hitherto Unblogged Poems from My Latest Book “The Seeking Soul” — https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0G4KCHV3W
The Corridor of Uncertainty
My buddy AV Satish Chandra
Now retired as prof of pol sci
From OU, tired as he already was
With the politics there
(Sigh, the gap, always a gap,
Between theory and practice)
Said to me more than a decade ago
With a humility that scholars have
He is ok to be walking
In the “corridor of uncertainty”
And with him then I would not agree
Hurts to agree most of the time
You may not have it all figured out
Now that I am older and wiser
I am inclined to tip my hat to him
And say, “Spoken like Socrates, chum”.(AV Satish Chandra’s author page on Amazon — https://www.amazon.in/stores/author/B07TBWHH59)
The Search
I searched for God
But settled
For the girl next door
Who knows what I found
And what I did not.
What I See
Standing in the balcony
As it drizzles
I stretch out my hands
To feel the rain droplets
On my fingers
I see across the street
Two children playing with paper boats
And in front of the yonder house
I see a brand new hearse.
The Winter
It’s freezing
Leaves are all gone
I stand bare, half-smiling,
Knowing
Spring, too, will come
And trouble me
This year-round rigmarole.
She
She smiled
I smiled back
Without knowing
Why she smiled.
The Restraint
The lottery we never buy
Can haunt us for a lifetime.
The Truth That I Seek
I can never find
The truth that I seek
Assume I find it
How can I tell
It is the truth.
The Ultimate Paradox of Life
I keep saying
“I do not want to exist”
Yet how could I have said it
If I had never been born.
Does She Love Me?
I wanted to ask her
“Do you love me?”
Then let it go
I who was not sure
What love was.
Transience
The leaf on the tree
wonders
Which wind
Will separate them both.
The Flow
It started raining
And I got all confused
Which was my tear drop
And which the rain drop.

I just discovered this. The biography is a little weird but not totally inaccurate. It's always odd to read about yourself on the interwebz. And it does have all the books in the right order.

Even though I, and maybe you too, were not born when Yugoslavia still existed, Yugoslavia will always be in our hearts. It's not perfect of course but it was a proof that that in the development of socialism to achieve communism, it must be adapted to national conditions.

As always, in any book you read about Yugoslavia, including encyclopedias, it is impossible not to find a picture of the old city of Dubrovnik in Croatia. One of the most beautiful places in the Balkans. One day I will go there, for sure.

There are some typos and inaccuracies in this entry. I know because Indonesian is my native language. For example "Serbia" is written as "Servia" which is an outdated and controversial term to refer to Serbia. But other than that, the information is correct.

My grandfather was not a Sukarnoist but we are a family that loves books, especially my grandfather, my mother and myself. That's why he kept this book until he told my mother to keep it. My grandfather even got annoyed with me because I likedSukarno too much hehe.

This book has lost its cover because it was submerged in water during the flood in my city in 2014. My grandfather found this book at that time and told my mother to clean it slowly and keep it. Thankfully, all the pages of the book are still there and now my mother and I still keep them.

This book actually belonged to my late grandfather. My grandfather's grandfather or my great-great-grandfather bought this book when they were walking in a flea market, either in the late 1960s or early 1970s. My grandfather himself told me this.

There are many topics in these writings, especially politics and history. As you can see in the first photo, this is the third printing of the first volume. This book was published in 1964 so this book is 61 years old as of the time of this post, lovely. This is a rare book you know.

The book "Dibawah Bendera Revolusi" or "Under the Banner of Revolution" by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Great Leader of the Indonesian Revolution, Sukarno. This book is a collection of Sukarno's writings before Indonesian independence which contain his thoughts on how to achieve Indonesian independence.

Marlene Dietrich & Konstantin Paustovsky
Just finished 'The Story of a Life' by Konstantin Paustovsky (1892-1968), Russian writer nominated 4 times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. He was of Zaporozhian, Turkish + Polish descent + raised mostly in Ukraine
In her autobiography, Marlene Dietrich devoted an entire chapter to the author inspired by his novel 'Telegram' :
"This novel made so great an impression on me that I could no more forget it than I could the name of the author, of whom I had never heard before"
In 1964, Dietrich arrived in the Soviet Union on a concert tour. As soon as she got off the plane she asked about Paustovsky. Despite being ill, Paustovsky attended the performance + afterwards went up on the stage. “I was so shocked by his presence that, being unable to utter a word in Russian, I did not find any other way to express my admiration for him, except to kneel in front of him"#konstantinPaustovsky #marlenedietrich #thestoryofalife #autobiography #sovietauthor #sovietwriter #russianwriter #russiannovelist #russianauthor #instabooks #booksofinstagram #mybookshelf #readinglist #mybooks #bookworld #books #ilovebooks #livres #biblio #buch #bücher #книги

This is a very good #GraphicNovel but a very very dark story and metaphor. I got it a while back online, expecting it to be dark and playful.
What I got was a claustrophobic decent into madness, isolation and a broader story mapping the experience of some fucked up things. I could just tolerate reading it. The art was amazing however.
Hats off to Brecht Evens, though a trigger warning, or more detailed blurb, might be handy.

@intellectualhistoryIl volume "Dalla compassione all'educazione.
