Here’s one where I specifically told myself, let’s write something fast for a change. The first gesture starts fast out of the gate and then relaxes toward the end. Every time I’d give it another push, it kept doing that. Okay, I said after a while, so you don’t want to be a fast piece after all, fine. Then the challenge was figuring out how to let it slow down in a way that would make sense and seem inevitable.

Please listen to my track for the 651st Naviar Haiku Music Challenge. The Edgar Allen Poe poem in the embedded spoken word recording along with title of the track cause the overall theme of the song to deviate conceptually from the prompt poem’s question about whether something has been “left undone,” but I still feel like this track responds to the prompt simply by the fact that it is completed.

New music! Inspired by a project from Cities and Memory, and a Wolf Howl experience at Algonquin Park years ago.

We lined up along a dark campground road in total silence. The Naturalist howled, three times, but only received silence in return. Then two Naturalists called together. The forest on both sides of the road erupted in deafening howls from many, many wolves.

One of the coolest things I've ever experienced.

First release after years of sitting on tracks — alternative synth/drum piece with rough edges.. My mix and master isn't textbook, but I'm happy with that!
- Tools: Reaktor synths, layered drums
- Visuals: self-shot + edited in DaVinci Resolve
