Recent opinion piece on awake #HippocampalReplay which takes together a lot of recent results and concludes that:
- no, the evidence does not point towards a role of replay in immediate planning
- instead, replay might be used to tag memories for future consolidation,
- and it might be triggered by prediction error (e.g. difference of reward, novelty, ...)
