Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : Neal H. Moritz prêt à relancer la franchise en live-action

Paramount Pictures prépare une nouvelle ère pour les Tortues Ninja avec Neal H. Moritz, le producteur de la franchise à succès Sonic, en négociations pour produire un film live-action. Cette relance vise à séduire un large public tout en réinventant les célèbres héros en coquille.

Un nouveau souffle pour les Tortues Ninja

Un producteur expérimenté aux commandes

Neal H. Moritz, figure emblématique derrière la franchise Fast and Furious et le succès cinématographique Sonic the Hedgehog, est en discussions pour reprendre en main la franchise Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) sous forme de film live-action pour Paramount Pictures. Toby Ascher, collaborateur de longue date chez Original Films, accompagnera Moritz en tant que producteur, consolidant ainsi l’équipe créative autour du projet.

Paramount à la recherche du plein potentiel

Depuis son acquisition de la franchise auprès du co-créateur Peter Laird en 2009, Paramount possède entièrement la marque TMNT et cherche désormais à exploiter tout son potentiel. Contrairement à d’autres franchises telles que Transformers ou G.I. Joe, où les droits sont partagés ou complexes, la possession intégrale par le studio permet une relance plus ambitieuse et structurée, centrée sur une approche multi-publics.

Un parcours mouvementé pour la franchise

Historique des films live-action

Le dernier film live-action/animation hybride, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016), avait été un échec commercial, stoppant net le développement de films live-action. Depuis, Paramount s’est tourné vers l’animation, avec un succès critique pour Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023), qui a su moderniser les héros tout en séduisant un public familial et nostalgiques des premières aventures des Tortues.

Des projets avortés et réévalués

Parallèlement, plusieurs projets de films et séries ont été abandonnés ou suspendus par Paramount. La série animée Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a été arrêtée en cours de production, malgré des épisodes jugés parmi les meilleurs par l’équipe créative. The Last Ronin, projet hybride live-action/CG, prévu comme un film R-rated, a été mis de côté par le studio, qui préfère éviter une approche trop adulte pour la première sortie live-action en dix ans.

Une stratégie inspirée de Sonic

Vers un public large et familial

Paramount semble vouloir appliquer au nouveau film TMNT la même recette que pour la franchise Sonic the Hedgehog, qui a rapporté plus d’un milliard de dollars avec trois films mêlant live-action et animation. Cette stratégie “quatre-quadrants” vise à séduire toutes les tranches d’âge, en associant action, humour et aventure familiale, et Moritz apparaît comme le producteur idéal pour reproduire ce succès.

Une suite attendue pour Mutant Mayhem

La suite de Mutant Mayhem, dirigée par Jeff Rowe et produite par Seth Rogen et Evan Goldberg, reste programmée pour une sortie le 17 septembre 2027. Cette continuité dans l’animation permet à Paramount de maintenir l’intérêt du public tout en préparant la future transition vers un film live-action produit par Moritz.

Vers une nouvelle ère pour les héros en coquille

Une approche multi-publics

Le studio souhaite que les Tortues Ninja deviennent un phénomène accessible à tous, à l’image de Sonic. L’objectif est de proposer un film qui combine les éléments d’action, d’humour et de fidélité aux personnages, tout en garantissant une large audience, des enfants aux adultes nostalgiques. L’expertise de Moritz dans ce type de productions hybrides sera un atout majeur pour atteindre cet objectif.

Des perspectives de relance ambitieuses

Paramount a l’intention de relancer TMNT non seulement au cinéma mais potentiellement sur d’autres supports médiatiques. La marque, riche d’une histoire de près de quarante ans, offre un vaste univers narratif et commercial. Cette stratégie pourrait inclure des films, séries et produits dérivés, visant à réaffirmer la place des Tortues Ninja dans la culture populaire mondiale.

Avec Neal H. Moritz à la production, Paramount prépare une relance ambitieuse des Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles en live-action. Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the #TV show that spun out from the movie #MutantMayhem, is now on Netflix. I LOVED the movie. I watched ep 1. And it's ok, but not quite as good as the movie.

There are times it is a good dove tail from the movie, and times it is not as talented. More in 🧵

Happy to see that #AcrossTheSpiderverse and #BlueEyeSamurai cleaned up at the #Annie awards. Both extremely well deserved—two pieces of media that define the joy of being alive in the current age of technology and art.

If either of them hadn’t come out last year, I’m sure TMNT #MutantMayhem would have won a couple as well. It was great.

I haven’t had a chance to see The Boy and The Heron or Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur yet, but definitely want to soon.

Since the VLC just runs through the music folder on my Windows 7 machine in alphabetical order, sometimes I'll end up hearing something I haven't heard in a while and I stick on it, which is cool.

Apparently today is the day I run through everything instrumental I have on here by Trent Reznor (and Atticus Ross). I finally saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, with my eldest daughter. It feels like a labour of love. The animation rocked, continuing the current big screen cartoon renaissance. The soundtrack was also great (for us oldies). My big takeaway though: The TMNTs are 15 years old - BORN IN 2008. IN 2 0 0 8.

Totally loved #TMNT #MutantMayhem. It’s a very different take on the story of the turtles but one with a lot of heart. My only pet peeve is the changes to Splinter’s origin. Then again that one rarely have been consistent.

Really enjoyed the new Turtles movie! Interesting visual style, laughed a lot, sweet soundtrack and awesome action scenes.
