Packing up the house.
I’ve lived in a lot of places in my life (over 15 I think?) but this place as special. The first time in well over 10 years I felt _home_.
I’m excited for the next chapter, but I’d be lying if I wasn’t a little sad to say goodbye. -

With starting to paint and continuing to reclaim my creative side… I decided to look back at my camera roll.
What did I notice? A distinct change after I got #LongCovid in 2022, then autoimmune disease in 2023. No landscape photos anymore. No big sky photos. No camping photos. No random day trip adventure photos of the big, west coast sky. It just stopped. Entirely.
I went back *10* years… and if I could, I would go back another 10 years and I know it would be the same. I love - actually I absolutely adore - landscape photography. It’s in my soul. Since I was little I’ve said, “Where the ocean meets the mountains” will always be home. Feels like ages ago when I could walk the forests and beaches.
Anyway, I added some images to a new references album on my phone… now, I’ll learn to paint them. I’ll remember them. I’ll breathe new life back into parts of me that have lost their joy.

I dropped by the market yesterday and got some seedlings: English spinach, rainbow chard and rocket. Just planted them out and watered them in – I sowed radish, kale and collards seeds recently but only the radish has sprouted. Probably I just need to be patient. The collards are quite old seeds but the kale should still come up.
My goal over the cooler months is to grow as much of my own leafy greens as possible... I've wanted to get into this for ages but with the state of, well, everything, it seems like now is the time to get serious about it. I suspect my biggest challenge (besides pests) will be succession planting. Maybe I should set a reminder in my phone calendar?

Don’t Lifemaxx. Just Play IRL.
Recently, I mulled about how the lack of worry is a wonderful state to be in.
It led to another thought.
There are times at work where I am fascinated by the problem. I am researching hard, trying different things. Some end up in failures. Yet, I stay resilient. I get back on the grind to give it another go.
Then there are times where I have to write just one document.
Yet, every part of my body goes on strike I am reticent to participate. Even a minor bottleneck becomes an excuse to stop. To give up. In today’s world I am one swipe away from wasting my time.
The difference is visceral.
One doesn’t feel like work even when I exert all of my energy. Heck, sometimes I even garner energy I never thought I had. The other is energy draining, depleting my battery with every small step I need to take. A tax.
One feels energizing!. The other feels exhausting!
One is hard work. The other is working hard.
This somehow feels like yet another thing I’ve learned as an adult.
As a kid, my work wasn’t work. It was play and playing never felt hard.
It was fun. It was light. It was learning with every mistake. We didn’t label mistakes – they were just part of the game. It was an eager zest for life and action.
There was no judgement. There was no optimization. There was no lifemaxxing. There was just life.
I am fortunate where work has felt like play.
Yet it is today that I can articulate what I am chasing. It is not a career. It is not money. It is not fame. It is not accolades.
I am looking for ways to play in real life.
