I miss music TV though. If Roar had been a late nineties song I would probably have seen the video then. Because music TV stations in NZ were a fruit salad of genres, playing any song with a professional video.
To see videos for Soundgarden, or Beck, or Faith No More, or Rage Against the Machine (the kind of stuff I was into as a teenager and still love), I had to sit through other videos. Hip hop, R&B, other stuff I never would have sought out, but sometimes ended up liking.

Cannonball was an underground favourite in 1990s Aotearoa, but never a radio hit, so watching the video on music TV was our way in.
