Day three now and I have all the notation and a drum track so I can start recording some guitars😀

So, I had to adjust the DAW tempo to make the track fit the click. All of that took one day.
Day two, I reproduced the drum track using the Yamaha DTX-Multi12, then smoothed out all the tempo changes (apart from one obvious one, they're pretty imperceptible)

I couldn't find the original manuscript or notes (or be bothered to look hard) - to this day that's how things start. So, I pulled the wav file into the DAW. There is one obvious temp change when the drums come in after a minute or so. I don't know how I did this originally but it might have been a Tascam 234 using a Revox to bounce stuff. I think the drums were kept external until mastering. In any case the tempo was all over the place

So... this old tune of mine came up on random play and I thought (unusually) 'this isn't bad' but the drums were an Alesis HR16 and there were other issues that I wouldn't let past QC today. So, I thought I'd re-record it

The current one only outputs in stereo so I'm laying down tracks in the DAW for kick, snare, toms, cymbals & ride/hi-hat which gives me greater control in the mix and better control over the reverb. It's also easier to export but it's really time consuming

Wow, there was a lot of childhood playing with the #RadioShack cassette recorder. #Sang in church, took #violin & #piano in grade school, started learning #guitar at 13.

Guess my first serious attempt at recording was when I was 15, saved & bought a #Tascam 8track recorder, taught myself how to layer & bounce tracks from articles in Gig magazine. I filled in all the parts but #percussion. On some instruments I have #rhythm for days, but beats? Nope! Lol
