  1. Wait, someone said #tunetuesday ?

I've got the Daisy Chainsaw for ya. I find it hard to believe that there are people out there who aren't immediately fall in love with the singer. And it's not "just" her, it's the full totally non conform to anything package.
London 1992. The place to be in case you are a time traveler.

  2. #perfectPopMusic

I'm not so much into it but my girl is and I have to admit: The more I hear it, the more I'm totally baffled about how actually GOOD this song is:

Brigitte Calls Me Baby: Slumber Party

If you are in early 2000s British Pop like Franz Ferdinand, Star Sailor and the likes, this definitely should get your attention.

    https://brigittecallsmebaby.bandcamp.com/track/slumber-party

The funny thing is: Brigitte Calls Me Baby started out as a "The Smiths" soundalike band. Now we know how this all went with The Smiths. While Johnny Marr still is a chilled, down to earth guy, yet incredibly skilled as a guitarist and composer... the face of the Smiths, Morrissey, is not - actually quite the opposite: A bitter diva with rightwing views.
Now I think, as a "The Smiths soundalike" project you gotta take sides! And in this regards it's important to know, that The Cure's front man Robert Smith is and was never impressed by Morrissey, totally not (as his former band mate Siouxsie Sioux), and he publicly stated this multiple times.

So it's quite funny and also a bold statement, to find a large citation of The Cure's "Close to me" in this song.

On top of that Brigitte Calls me Baby is starting to emancipate themselves from sounding like a Smiths cover band, but doing their own thing now. Good!

  3. Just learning (by listening to the Byte FM radio station), that Bugge Wesseltoft has released just another #xmas album, which he funnily calls:

"It's Still Snowing on My Piano".

    Kinda insight joke ;)

It's recorded live, and, you may have guessed it, it's beautiful.

  4. I can't deny it, some tracks from the 1994 #NineInchNails album will never leave me. The UNBELIEVABLE insane "Eraser", also "Reptile", of course "Hurt" (I like the original still the most - and the live piano version from 1995) and a couple of others, while other songs totally aren't my taste. Strange Album indeed.

I'd say they never got back to this kind of energy - understandable: You've got to be in a dark kind of state to be forced to struggle yourself free from it with SUCH music.

Anyway. They did the OST for the 2025 Tron: Ares Movie!! (Release in Germany: October, 9th).

And boy! They are so back!
I never heard that typical from the surface seen "nice n cozy" kinda "cyber Sphere synth" music, that feels that much threatening from deep down, so defective from the far inside.
It's like all falls apart in slowmo.

Trademark Tent Razor mood building! A bit of EBM clichรฉ here and there, but not in a way that annoys me personally (yes, standard EBM annoys me to the brink - this here is different).
Even some harsh pop dancefloor smashers there. So cool!

  7. Music Recension in 2 parts
(Yes, two parts: Even Misskey doesnโ€™t give me the number of chars I need ;) )

    Disclaimer:

I usually donโ€™t do full album recensions, this in fact my first (all that in English โ€“ not my native language). Why do this then? I canโ€™t explain. I just think I need to do it. Well โ€“ it may have something to do with having somehow befriended someone in the net โ€“ as far as this is possible, when you havenโ€™t spoken with- or seen each other. The fact, that this recension is done for an album made by this person shouldnโ€™t cloud my objective judgment but nevertheless may.
    Youโ€™ve been warned.

The person I talk about is Stephan K. better known as the head of the Creative Commons music project โ€œSchall und Stilleโ€ โ€“ so lets focus on his brand new release

    Schall und Stille โ€“ Biike

Biike, that is an annual ceremony done mostly in Scandinavian countries to bid farewell to the winter involving huge bonfires. In a further sense this means: Let the past rest. Start something new. Something refreshing, renewing. Which turns out to be just a new cycle of the same. A new iteration. A new old. I may be carried away, but I think this all can be found in this album.
Which is fragile. Yes. I think โ€œfragileโ€ carries the vibe I get from the whole construct. Not in a sense of weakness or unstableness. But as in something, you know can be easily hurt, so you want to protect it to keep its beauty. It starts with broken chords โ€“ a motive reoccurring at almost every track โ€“ unfinished minor chords complementing each other in some sense but at the same time feel non complete, leaving the listener in some floating state. Not grounded, not flying high. The first track โ€“ an instrumental โ€“ sets this kind of mood and carries it over to the first real song. Friends.
@[email protected] is doing the vocals himself here. And its obvious, he struggles doing so (which btw. has medical reasons, as he wrote lately) but doing this anyway doesnโ€™t make the resulting track, technically a waltz, sound wrong at all. He is one with his music โ€“ and this is so much more important than most people think. All the fragility introduced from the intro track โ€“ it materializes here โ€“ carrying a deep sadness and a accordion alike sound with it. It is perfect the way it is. Speaking of sound design, I might be wrong, but I think there is LOTS of oldskuhl โ€œwavetableโ€ wizardry in place here. I know, Stephan is collecting all the old original Waldorf synths and breaths new live into them. The sounds coming out of that are fragile again in themselves, as they are not perfect: When listening closely there will be low bitrate/low samplerate aliasing all over those sounds making them appear more โ€œhumanโ€ because of their technical imperfection.
